Well, if a motion picture tosses in a ton of jokes that only hardcore fans of the series/director/etc. would get, then the movie deserves to fail. XD

Seriously, there's such a thing as being too vague.

That's how a lot of Tarantino movies are. He makes references to all of his favorite movies, most of which I've never even heard of. Random spaghetti western and kung fu films. So I have to have those things explained to me while watching or else nothing is really humorous.

Insider references are fine as extra fun for people who get them, but they ought to be a minor aspect of the entertainment. Unless you're watching a multipart movie or whatnot, you shouldn't be expected to be familiar with some random other work by the same author or director. Among other reasons, Hearts in Atlantis (the Stephen King book) chafed my ass because the meat of the first story made little sense to me. I hadn't read very far into the Dark Tower series, so I didn't know diddlysquat about beams around the tower and people trying to break them and blah blah so on and so forth, so when the story got to that point, instead of being interesting, it was like a giant non sequitur BUH to me.

Then again, most movies deserve to fail anyway.

So it's not like it makes it different from others.

Now to see if this actually made sense...

I think movies that don't try deserve to fail.

By that token, at least half of all video game-based movies are destined for failure. At LEAST. And it almost always ends up being spectacular failure as well, a fantastic car wreck.

If nearly every movie wasn't a remake of another with less story and more special effects, I would enjoy them more.

Again!?

People always lie to me.

Like when they said that jumping from the 10th floor would make me travel in time.

I'll always ask someone like Kyouji before doing stuff like this.

Of course, he'll probably tell me to just kill myself thought.
