Well yeah, it's clearly not intentional. I'm still shocked that it somehow made it through, though. Given the weird censorship that was put on that game (The Rosa-crushing Bowling Ball of Doom, "Lance of White", and others), that this...something (I'm actually tempted to call it a practical joke by the translator that somehow made it through...I'm not well-versed in Japanese, but I don't see how you mistranslate "Anna" into (What you named Edward) in the slightest.) got into the game.

FFII US is second only to Bionic Commando in the "what were Nintendo's censors smoking and can I have some?" department.

EDIT: Incidentally, wouldn't Pi(e) actually be Pi to the e power?
EDIT 2: Actually, I think I'm wrong on that last edit. Oh well.

At least in the GBA version they finally put the blade in instead of the bowling ball for Rosa.

If you want a weird "application" of Nintendo's censorship policies, look at Faxanadu. Nothing HORRID in the game or anything, but some of Nintendo's policies (smoking, drinking, religious motifs) obviously weren't in effect then. Or the censors had gone to lunch.

Hmm. Faxanadu had a terrible translation, as I recall. I'd have to play through it again to see what you're saying though, as it's been awhile.
