I tried Earthbound at some point. Maybe I should play it again.

This is what the spoiler tag SHOULD have been:

CSS:
.spoiler {
display: block;
background: #000000 none;
color: #000000;
}
.spoiler span {
display: block;
color: #FFFFFF;
font-weight: bold;
}

HTML:
<span class="spoiler"><span>Spoiler:</span>(Text here)</span>

... but I kinda doubt that xk will do something about it...

Woo. I'm going to Q-Zar today.

I also made my first Yoshi Topsy-Turvy map.

No. It's horribly overrated and feels way too Squaresoft and not nearly enough Nintendo. It's just not a fun game. Play Paper Mario; it's a lot better.

Super Mario RPG is a really great game. Maybe I just prefer Squaresoft a bit more, if indeed it is more them than Nintendo, but I think it's a wonderful blend of both. I did, however, also enjoy Paper Mario quite a bit. If I ever get a Gamecube or the Revolution (once it comes out) I may need to get the sequel.

I like all three mario RPGs...

They all provide their own entertainment value

Oh come on. The battle system was an utter joke compared to Paper Mario's, and it was... Well, rather dull throughout.

I think it's OK to have the opinion that SMRPG wasn't great, but don't tell people "No, it sucked, play this instead", because... most people here will go against that.

For the time, SMRPG was a very good RPG that was definitely different (if a little easy) and was fun to play through. Obviously the formula would be improved on later.

What improved formula? They threw the old one out. Only similarity is the action commands, really.

Especially when you beat it and Booster comes in and eats it.

Booster was messed up...but funny. And I rather liked the whole fighting-the-living-weapons thing. Just seemed like a good basis for enemies. The start was also great, with going to beat Bowser right at the beginning, and THEN the game really begins.

Yeah, but the start made perfect sense as well.

Of course, nothing beats the Axem Rangers.

I'ma give you that one. I believe the game to be subpar in general, but the Axem Rangers ruled.

Wait, wait, wait. You mean to tell me you hadn't played Earthbound before?

BLASPHEMY!

Though I suppose now is as good a time as ever to start, what with the release of Mother 3 in Japan. Now if only it would be translated, either by Nintendo or the ROM by someone on the internet. I'm sure it likely will be one way or the other...right?

I dunno if Nintendo will release Mother 3 here... maybe come Christmas if we're lucky but if not by then, it might be a Japan-only release since the GBA is being phased out slowly but surely.

That was the hardest battle in the game IMO.

That beam of theirs did tons of damage. The first boss I had serious problems with. The only one too.

Same with me. I remember having some problems with Johnny Jones and Yardovich too, but they didn't compare to the god damn Axem Rangers.
The last boss was pretty easy because I used all of my rare offensive items I saved to the end. I'm pretty reserved in RPGs. My final team was Mario, Bowser, and Peach. What about you guys?

I have a save state to I tryt to beat Smithy in as many ways as possible. I think I used Geno, Mario and Peach (With the Lazy Shell armor) the first time. Culex was easy too. Strong attacks but I beat him easily.
