LT...Lost Threads or something else? I don't quite understand what you're saying, to be honest.

And Anya, I think it's a SHAME you didn't log in while drunk. I imagine it would've been entertaining for all involved.

LT is Lost Threads, yeah.

At least, I *think* it's still around. I know it's staff-only, in any case.

Yeah, Lost Threads is forum ID 32. However, you cannot access it unless you are staff.

Woohoo! I'm back! I've had a fun weekend... thing.

Yesterday me and my friend went to see Ice Age 2. Then we came home and played 4 straight hours of Mario Party 7. We played one 15-turn game at the Great Canal and 131 mini-games, most of them Final Countdown, one of the best Battle Mini-games ever. She stayed until midnight because her mom was talking to my mom for 3 hours.

Then today I woke up at 5:30 for Sunrise Service (woo) and then I visited my grandma and great grandma.

I am so tired.

I'm definitely not opposed to alternative forms of therapy, goofy as they are. And that's because unless there's a HUGE problem in brain chemistry such that you need drugs to fix it, like with schizophrenia, it really comes down to the individual. Just as there are a lot of psychosomatic diseases/disorders, you can often get better just because you want to, effectively. The human body is amazing like that, and, since you bring up "scientific proof" there are times when science doesn't really have much of an explanation for why the therapy works.

I'm not just talking out of my ass here, by the way, as a Psychology major, and I've seen it happen. If people think alternative forms of therapy will help them...then they may help, scientific basis or no.

Yes, I know, but the two are related fields, and in some cases can substitute for each other. Note that I did mention medication, which is, well, rather prominent in psychiatric medicine. My point was that being a Psych major allowed me to speak with a bit of authority, though as an undergrad obviously not that much, on the topic of the efficacy of alternative therapies.

It's just.

Psychology DOES have a lot to do with psychiatry, but it really doesn't have a lot to do with... The medicine. Not none, just... Not a lot.

Both Psychology and Psychiatry are used in the treatment of mental disorders. In some cases, multiple different kinds of therapy can achieve the same effect. They're not perfect substitutes, but they can often be used as such to some extent. As such, it's valid to bring up one in a discussion regarding the other. A clinical psychologist will end up treating a lot of the same kinds of problems as a psychiatrist, and there's some movement to get limited prescription ability to them as well, blurring the distinction further.

They're closer than you think.

Eheheh. Psychologists cannot prescribe medicine, because they are not doctors.
