Yeah. Anybody remember the good ol' days where you tried to download a movie using dial-up?

Man, it was not worth the wait to watch Matrix Reloaded.

Average movie.

I wasnīt allowed to download movies and such huge things when we had dia-up at home. Itīd be too expensive as dial-up costs a lot more than broadband does in sweden.

We have broadband now but thatīs a slow f*ing 2mb/s connection. Itīs not that stable either.

I somehow think that by the time people started to download movies en masse, DSL was already on the scene and made it a LOT easier - even if it was only at 20-30kb/s, at least you could leave it on overnight.

2mbps isn't that slow since that's roughly 200kb/s. Mine's around that but the network's getting an upgrade right now, so I could be up to 5mbps. I'll be happy with any little increase, really.

I think my most memorable experience with dialup and slow downloads was when it took me AGES to download the N64 Ocarina of Time rom. And then I remember that at the time the emulators couldn't even properly emulate it.

Now THAT was frustrating.

I remember those days, but I had a much better connection than most people during that time period (and I still have that same connection), so I didn't have TOO many problems downloading.

Today is pi day, isn't it?

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about it.
Or I'm blind, one of the two.

Hmm...I'd say it's the latter.

Oh come on. How could you miss it?

Well, you did ask for it. Don't worry, it was just a tranquilizer dart. You should feel fine...though a bit woozy...soon.

Dialup was better than what you had now?

Uhhh....no. What I meant was that during that time, I had a very good connection in comparison with other people. I still have that same connection to this day, but now, in comparision, it's somewhat inferior (although still as fast as it was before, which is quite fast).

(Note to self: Watch your wording)

wtf

I envy that speed of download.

With that speed I would try to download the internet.

The whole thing.

I downloaded the entire internet once. Or tried to, anyway. My computer melted at some point, I remember that much.

I'ma wait to try that crap when I get to DigiPen.

Also, crappy sprite animations time!

I made these from someone's spritesheet to bring shame to the work of a moron. His weren't even transparent, and they were way too big, and they were just terrible in general. I might make more, of some of the other attacks, if I get bored enough. Most of the time when that happens now I just write a comic, though. (Comic three is also up. Check MA.)

I like those animations.

As for computer melting...

I'll simply use someone else's computer to download the internet.

Melting is an understatement. If you had the connection speed and the hard drive to download the entire internet, the universe would implode. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to begin with, though. I mean, after all, the entire internet does include user databases and other private stuff. And I'm sure we all know what we could do if we gained access to them, even if they're encrypted.
