Hmm...now that I double checked, you're right. However, Articuno, though underused, does fare well in standard play.

You'll need to explain that one.

It does not have particularly good stats, and is too legendary for uu...

This page has the list of tiers in RBY. The standards are Pokemon that are seen in almost every team. This is due to their versatility, their power, among other things. As the page says, those that are boarderline (underused) are not used as often as the standards, but will fare well in standard play or are too powerful to be considered underused. .

UU?

Google tells me nothing about it Alastor. :/

Edit: OH... underused. xD

Edit2: Surprised to see Vaporeon and Blastoise in the underused list but bleh... I only played Pokémon for fun. Although I wish it wasn't so randomized when it comes to "genes" and stuff... ;

Oh, you were still talking about RBY... You said standard play so I just naturally assumed that...

Hmm, it has fairly good stats in FR/LG and is the most defensive of the Legendary birds. I, however, think it´s quite boring to train one.

I like Zapdos better for some reason. And the Raikou that I got in my FR game has sucky stats, IMO. Maximum was 120 at Sp Atk and Speed at lvl 50. I´ve never touched it.

Edit: And bleh for reaching that limit in the ACS thread again.

Unpredictable. Watch your backs. Or not. Whichever. I want Metal Gear Solid 4 so badly.

Hack much, Riku?

I never actually finished a game of Pokemon...I got decently far in Red, and later in Yellow, but never got around to actually going and beating it. I got bored, basically. I've never really liked the "collect all 150" and later 250...what is it up to now?

It´s up to 386, not counting Munchlax and other new pokémon.

So that´s quite a task.

There's a reason why Pokémon stadium/Coleseum/XD don't allow more than one of the same Pokémon in the theme. :p

I was quite surprised seeing Mewtwo allowed, but not Pokémon like mew. :/

And I would´t like to have two of the same pokémon in my team either.

It´s quite boring.

It's not very strategically sound, either... With less diversity, you have more uniform weaknesses. A team full of Mewtwos would be easy pickings for a Deoxys-F.

That´s the kind of Deoxys I have and I´ll probably keep it in FireRed and adapt its moves to its stats.

Stat increasing attacks such as Swords Dance isn´t necessary to have on Deoxys-F because if its huge Attack and Sp Atk stat.

Neither is it necessary to have any recovery moves on it because of its sucky defense and sp def.

One of the other things to consider is what the team is used for. If you're just playing through the game's story, then most reasonably high powered teams, at least if red or yellow are any indication, can do rather well.

Playing against a live opponent, on the other hand, is another issue entirely.

That's what the tier lists were built for, Sky - live opponents. Just about any set of Pokemon will suffice for the Pokes you battle in-game.

That´s why you have to use tactics against real people. You can rarely win if you only use offensive moves.

Throw in some Confuse Ray, Thunderwave, Sleep Powder, etc. You can also poison a Heracross due to its ability Guts to make it stronger.

Sleep powder.

Please Traps. This is a formal request. Don't talk about Pokemon.

Well, not much, no. My friend got his Mewtwo's from that bug/cheat (Was that on purpose?) in the PC.

But actually, Tri Attack has it's uses.

I remember one time my brother used Gameshark to get a team of elite Jigglypuffs. Each one had a supreme stats and was level 100. He did that just to see what it would look like in Pokemon Stadium. It was funny to see a Jigglypuff fly and use Solar Beam.

I will admit that I had a decent time playing Pokemon Stadium a couple times when I was babysitting on the n64 the kid had, after he'd gone to bed and the parents weren't due home for a few hours...
