Riku knocks Lanturn out of the water, and laughs while Lanturn tries in vain to survive. Urm... Super effective?

You know, as the original creator of the ACMLM Sim-Battle Board, I would find it endlessly amusing if an aquatic battle royale began over there.

Lanturn can survive out of water. Somehow. Only way you're gonna kill that thing is with a plant or an earthquake, and since we have no plants and and earthquake would cause a tsunami and would effectively be suicide...

The people in sim-battle now suck at it, though. Even when I played, I wouldn't be caught dead there.

Well, if it's not to your liking, the solution is to get a few people who can do it well and go at it, show them how it's done, right?

Or at least that's what I thought a few years ago. And that's what I did. And I was wrong, it didn't really help.

Sadly, Lanturn is flying, so no earthquake. (At least in Pokemon Coliseum. )

Earthquake still is super effective on Lanturn, because it doesn't have Levitate. That's what kind of screwed Magneton over (although Magnet Pull kicks Skarmory's ass)

Trainer ALASTOR withdrew SKARMORY!
Go, DUGTRIO!

Trainer ASDF withdrew HERACROSS!
Go, MAGNETON!

DUGTRIO is hurt by poison.

DUGTRIO used EARTHQUAKE!
It's super-effective!
MAGNETON fainted!

Dugtrio is the other problem Magneton has. Although if you manage to get it out before Skarm switches out or at a time it can't (IE: after a Pokemon faints), you'd be in the money. Besides, Magneton does have Boltbeam resistance (resistance to both Ice and Electric - only Lanturn shares that property), and I believe it is the fourth-most oft-used electric type (after Zapdos, Raikou and Jolteon)

They've been using it for quite a while. More specifically, since FR/LG came out, since it got Substitute with that.

I belive it was one of the Pokémon I used alot in Pokémon stadium.

Though if I recall, Arcticuno was probably my favorite out of the three. While moltres felt like the weakest one for me.

It still gets a fairly feh movepool... And statwise, Raikou is superior. I've mainly just seen Raikou and Magneton. Zapdos are rarer.

Zapdos's biggest edge is arguably its Ground resistance, though.

And Articuno was one of those Pokemon that was screwed over when the G/S generation came around. Back then, it was on almost every team. But now...eh...

I have never seen a serious RBY battler use Articuno.

It's just not done.
