Heh. Remember those games in Qbasic? It had a version of "snake" where you had to go through many levels, and some game called "Gorilla Glacier" where you had to enter numbers to throw a banana at another ape.

The game was just called Gorilla. Actually killed quite a bit of time on it before discovering Scorched Earth and Worms. :\

And the first game was Nibbles. Yeah, I remember; they included them to show to end user examples of what could be done with it...

Nibbles was addictive

Damn, all this talk about those classic game is inducing mass nostalgia. I simply must find a download for those. No problem, with Google at your side.

One of the wierdest infinite loop cases I seen was with a boot loader.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when it loops at a single letter. Seeing your whole screen being flooded with one letter is kind of funny... and sad. xD

Infinite loops, huh? Reminds me of an example of an infinite loop I saw on a Commodore 64 tutorial book. It was something along the lines of this...

20 print "HELP! MY COMPUTER'S BERSERK!!!!"
40 goto 20

Also, included near that was a cartoon of a guy covering his eyes while pointing a gun at his computer, which was putting that string on the screen endlessly. There were a lot of those things in that book. I forgot where I put it, though. I suppose I'll have to find it and scan it sometime.

But the general simplicity of Gorilla is what made it awesome. No need to worry about all that extra weaponry. Just type in some numbers (preferably some good ones) and watch it go.

I found a link to an archive of them, Ailure. It can be found here. Now, if only I could figure out how to make it work on my computer...

You ever check out... um... qbasic.com, Ailure? Everything seems to be there, surprisingly. I don't think MS minds.

Ah thank you, and well... not too hard to make them run considering that compiled QBasic programs runs fine in Win XP for me. Now I just need to find a compiler...

Edit: Note that I have no intresting learning Basic... if I want to learn a new one it would be C++. :/

!

You got QBasic to run on your Windows XP? How? Because it's giving me a .PIF error when I try to run it on mine.

Look for a file with the extension .pif and remove it.

...basically, it might look like a shortcut as it's hard to diffrence between pif and regulars shortcuts in Windows. The pif system was made up in Win 3.1 for making DOS programs to run with their own custom settings. :/

Hmm...there isn't a .pif file in there. I checked; even with file extentions showing it shows nothing. The 1.1 build on the same site I directed you to works...up to the point where I have finished selecting the options. Then it says there was a division by zero error. Go figure.

asdf: That site seems to be pretty good. I think IŽll download a few games.
