| Now here's a little gem someone on SA directed me to: Tower Re.
Website, obviously 
The objective is fairly familiar: Make your way through 21 floors of a tower. The many ASM hacks, however, are what set this apart. From conveyor-ropes, to a working Hammer Bros. suit, to a level switching between normal and purple (reversed left and right!) at regular intervals, to angry invincible thunderclouds, to autoscrolling levels with a cannon mounted to the right side of the screen that adjusts to your Y-position, to new music, to a prick of a Bowser edit in Mario himself. Yeah, you're going to want savestates, ESPECIALLY in the last six or so levels, as there's some pretty bastardly moments. Apart from one paticular jump though, the levels seem pretty well laid out, and the game is a good deal of fun. What are some other awesome Japanese SMB1 hacks? They really have this shit down to a science... |

eh I'll beat it eventually, I don't give up I'm just not feeling like playing it right now, man those are some awsome ideas, why is it that japanese people are so smart and know this stuff by heart it seems? O.o anyways we need to see more hacks like this. |

| I hack SMB2J. About last February I've released a 4 World Demo and deleted the following week.
I'm back hacking this ROM again so I don't need ASM's like the Poison Mushroom, Red Plants, Green Springboards to edit my levels. Plus there are more levels than SMB1 including World A through D. | I didn't mean that, I mean't I'm way better at ROM Hacking. Besides, I found the data while they didn't. So I might consider if the Japanese ROM hackers would edit SMB2J instead of editing SMB1. English speaking people have made some awesome games and so on as well. Let us not forget games like CRASH Bandicoot, I'm sorry but they just know Mario is all. They would have hell with Half Life modding. Anyhow, you are a mean ass jerk for saying that, I'm part Asian so i have to take offense. You should never call anyone a freak, you were and are being very racist, I'm surprised no one has booted you from this message board for that. It is no wonder we do not have anyone still here from the asian community showing the awesome stuff they are doing. God! I can not stand this. I know I clicked on that button too...and I'm back, but without sounding bigheaded or anything, I do see myself as a decent contributing member to this board. | I like this hack. The ASM changes are cool, and the new music fits the scenery nicely. The level design is a bit harsh, but that's what I expected from a hack like this.
However...I think we're getting off-topic. Is this thread about InsectDuel's behavior, or Betaworld's hack? |

| It keeps crashing on me, i think i have the wrong ROM.
Which ROM do i need, the J or U version? I barely make it through level one which is a cool level to me, but then it crashes, not only that the title is all screwy compared to how it should look, any help? |

| I enjoyed it a lot, and no it was not a great perfect hack, but it is fun.
You can get over the situations, it is called a learning curve, it is only hard at first until you get used to it. But yes it could use a bit more work in some cases. One point would be with the piranha plants, he should have removed part of the background near them so they are not behind the.... objects like that. Only other problem is it could have used more music, not the same ones over and over again, but it is good, and better then a few i have played on here, not saying which ones. |
