Alright, i have been online all day learning hex values.

I got to 9F which equals 159.(i think)

whats next?

A0?

If so, what is after FF?

What is the hex value for 1000?

Yes, $A0 comes after $9F.
After $FF comes $100.
1000 in decimal is $3E8 in hex.

You know, Windows Calculator can convert values for you...

Just make sure you put it in scientific mode first.

3E8....?

Does that mean i cant use this value for my Zelda 2 Hack?

Offsets only have two digits.

If the game only had a single byte for the enemy's health then you're pretty much out of luck

I would put my name on the title screen and in the credits. As for when you're finished, you create a patch. Look up LunarIPS.

The best way to do the title is to change the name, and add your name and the year of the hack under or above Nintendo's copyright text.

Just a minor title hack should suffice. Change "The Adventure of Link" to something suitable, or do whatever you feel like.

If nothing else, somebody playing your hack will immediately know that it's working properly (if they get the regular Zelda 2 title logo, then they know something's gone wrong), and somebody trying to play vanilla Zelda 2 won't wind up playing your hack by mistake.

The newbie doesn't want to change the title screen. I need to give him as many reasons as possible, even stupid ones.

I'd just subtitle it or something. Does your hack have a name? You should have a name for it, even if it is just something simple like "the_icepenguin's Zelda II Hack."

What's the synopsis of the main story (what's the hack's story)?

You plan to do an entire hack... And you're blanking on a name.

Jeez, just make something up. It doesn't have to be good. Is "Link's return" taken?

There isnt any story change, im just making the game harder....a lot harder.

Anyway, Ill think of something.

"The Adventure of The Ice Penguin"

hehe...just kidding, then i would have to change Link into a penguin...

hey, that would be cool. a penguin with a sword....

Just call it "Ice Penguin's Zelda 2 Hack" or something generic like that.

I do like the play as a penguin idea though. Hehe.

If it's a straight difficulty hack, call it zelda ii hardtype. In all lowercase, just like that.
