I like subtitles more than dubs. I prefer the actual, original anime. Dubs usually censor a lot of stuff and change a lot of things in the anime, plus the voices usually suck.

What do you prefer?

Edit: By neither, I mean watching original anime from Japan without any subtitles.

Subtitles.

Point blank, they just sound better.

If I knew the Japanese language then it its original form would be my preference but since I don't know it, subs are the way to go for me.

I don't mind reading, some people hate it.

I'll have to go with subtitles because some dubs are extremley scrued up. Take CCS for example, The origional was good but the dub was out of order and a little odd....

I like dubs better, because the acting in the original japanese tends to be craptacular (though this is not often evident as it's somewhat difficult to tell when you don't understand what they're saying) and because reading the words at the bottom of the screen means my focus isn't on what goes on everywhere else, thus keeping me from seeing subtle details.

I hate dubs because they often sound terrible. I bought a DBZ movie a long time ago and when I got home I noticed that I couldn´t change the language.

Swedish is terrible with animes. Well, except for a few ones.

I want them on the original language because sometimes dubbing them takes away the feeling that Japanese ones have.

So I voted for subs.

I don't really mind either. As long as I havn't seen the subs of the dubbed anime. When I watched Naruto in english, I didn't like it. Although when I watch dubs like Inuyasha and Yu-gi-oh, I don't have a problem with them.

Subbed, but if I can both. It's a nice comparison to the original most times, if nothing else...though most fanboys that want straight from Jap won't even consider looking at dubbed animé unless it's the only way to see it (and even then...).

I prefer raw Japanese. If not, then subtitles (to which I will pay little attention). Then dubs.
I don't mind most dubs, but I prefer Japanese.

English is such a stupid language.

Some dubs (i.e the first series of Yu Gi Oh, speed racer, gigantor) are ridiculous as fuck to listen to.

some are good. Like FMA's dub for example.

same thing goes for subtitels.

Copied from the archive

subs 100% for me...i'll never watch an anime dubbed on my own free will ever again..i like the original japanese simply because (1) i'm gradually understanding it (2) the americanization process never goes anything right and lastly, (3) the dignity of the anime is preserved...

two classic cases where the the dignity of the anime was lost: Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors

Kind of off-topic but what exactly is copied from the archive? If you mean this thread, I didn't know. All I looked at in the archive was ROM hacking. I usually ask this question to anime fans so I felt like doing it here.

Why did people like that dub? I hated it. Maybe it's because Ed had a woman do his voice? Nubs. They've been doing that forever for young boys and still do it with characters like Naruto and Luffy. The dub just doesn't fit for me. In my opinion, like other art forms, anime is best left in its original state. Otherwise it just looks silly.

Not to forget Sarah Strange with too many other people...

Anyways, they probably prefer it because Funimation actually scrounged some decent talent with this one. Al's voice is pretty close to the Japanese one in terms of tone...and the expression alone throughout some of the eps is a pretty good interpret from the original subs.

Both, though I tend to watch dubbed anime most often. I like changing the language selection, watching the original, then watching the English version.

It also REALLY pisses me off how they only play the 2nd opening. All 4 were equally awesome and representative of the part of the series with good transitioning and thats a really rare thing to come by.

I personally like either Subs or Raw Japanese. Mainly because as a budding Japanese student, any opportunity to listen to the language is always welcome. However, a lot of stuff is far too complicated for me to watch in raw Japanese. One day, one day.

I prefer subtitles, except in Trigun's case. That was the single best English dub I've ever heard. Almost better than the Japanese version.

Trigun was pure kickassery in both English and Japanese.

Subs until, if I ever do, learn japanese, and then I'll probably still have subs, just so I can make sure I'm not misunderstanding anything.

Also, you get subs a lot faster than dubs, like Bleach for instance.

I go with subtitled since it provides the original way the anime was presented, and people who know English can understand as well.

I do not find subtitles annoying since they are mostly brief and not more than an average of 7 words at once. This allows me to watch the anime with a glimpse now and then at the bottom of the screen

There is one exception...if you like GITSAC or an anime with a lot of dialogue, i would recommend dubbed simply because the reading gets very annoying.

So, yea...1 more vote for subbed.
