I decided to get a bunch of torrent files and download them all at the same time. They consist of: Kingdom Hearts Knights of the Old Republic Kingdom Hearts II Gradius 3 & 4 Gradius 5 It's like hell. Except the speed is so much slower.

That's because you're totally clogging up your upload speed, more than likely; and with so little overhead available for accessing web sites, of course you're going to run into problems. 
I can get by with one torrent running but I don't go overboard. |

| Well, it can work both ways. Say, someone downloading a Linux distro via a torrent and getting bogged down as a result.
Of course, the amount of people who only use legal torrents is likely dwarfed by the amount of people who don't. |

| What program are you using? Set an upload/download limit so you can be on the net at the same time. Check the ports too.

| My connection remains fast enough to view most pages at a good speed when I have torrents going. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't, because the 350MB of RAM Azureus eats up is a bit more than the 256MB it actually has (and the constant disk activity REALLY doesn't help). I need more RAM. |

| And that is why I stick to one download at a time. It doesn't slow me down as long as I stick to one... but if I do more, it makes a very noticable impact on my speed. |
