| I need ideas for a film with which I can compare Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, particularly a film similar to it. I don't care how many ideas I get for this. I need many as possible. This whole thing is for a school assignment. | |||

| What about Snakes on a Plane?
But yeah, it would help if we had some idea of how exactly it has to be similar. Do you mean in terms of plot/general theme? Or in terms of direction/cinematography? Or the way the various plot points are set up throughout the film? (edited by richyawyingtmv on 06-17-06 08:25 AM) (edited by richyawyingtmv on 06-17-06 08:25 AM) |

| What I'm specifically looking for is a fantasy film with a type of hero. I'm trying to find one with an ending with which I can compare the Goblet of Fire with. More specifically with a hero's return to his normal world.
It does not have to be exactly the same, but I would like a good one to discuss. (edited by Tanookirby on 06-17-06 04:01 PM) |

This is kinda obvious, but you could watch another Harry Potter movie.
I can't think of any movies that really match you you want. ![]() |

| Clash of the Titans. Jason and the Argonauts. Any of those sorts of archetypal films.
the Odyssey based stories are normally the best. Given that Odyssius has a miraculous or mystical birth and it follows a classic myth cycle. It basically conforms perfectly to the Quest Cycle of Northrop Frye. |

Oh yes! Those are pretty good films, but most of them are old.
The Odyssey was one of the best tales ever. ![]() |

| Which is why they're good because not only are they based on quest cycle archetypes they are the source of most modern film cliches and can therefore form a stronger base for any sorts of cinematic arguments. |
