Canada, USA and Mexico are always included in the Gold Cup because it's pointless to insert them into qualifying, and it would be nearly impossible to get the players free for it. (Mexico would probably be able to send a strong team but Canada/USA would have to use domestic players.)

Qualifying just started so we'll see who gets in. The usual suspects (Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Trinidad, Cuba, etc.) probably.

Man, watching the prem yesterday was a surreal experience. The Merseyside derby, at one point I think Liverpool led the goal scoring attempts statistics 20-3, while Everton led the match 2-0. And then with Pepe Reina's fumbling at the end, Everton went up to win it 3-0.

Then you had Sheffield United vs Blackburn Rovers. 3 missed pens, 0-0, how often do you see that in a match? Heh, I recall one sports announcer saying "it's not often you see 3 missed pens in a 0-0 match", and I thought to my self "I'd be even more shocked if we saw 3 scored pens in a 0-0 match".

I wonder where Ziff is, ready to extoll the virtues of Kiev and Shakhtar. XD (Well, at least the latter got a draw but Dinamo is getting throttled this year.)

I'm quite happy with Celtic's performance so far. Didn't play like crap against United, got the three points against FCK... we'll need to do better against Benfica, mind you, but if we can get at least a point there we're in good shape.

Yeah Celtic almost spoiled it for Man U there.

That FK by Nakamura was sublime.

Nakamura is awesome. Just a solid player with wicked set pieces...

I'm still stunned at the quality of Solskjaer's comeback so far. :O

The man is an animal. Both of them.

With Gunnar, since the only games I see are UEFA, I can only read about his legend, which apparently grows every time he goes into a game that Man U's down in.

He did do very well the last time he played for Norway in September as well, you know... :\

Dunno how he's doing it given his injury woes.

Solskjær is one of the very few Norwegian players who have been able to be consistently good at both club level and national team level over the years. Berg was another one. Ironically, seems like every time a goal keeper starts playing good for Norway, he is put at the subs bench of whatever English club he is at at that time.

So, the English corruption scandal is still rolling along, with Sir John Stevens having said they are investingating 8 clubs suspected of being involved in "fishy" transfers. Any guesses as to which 8 clubs he might be looking at?

Oh, and by the way, it's good night, good bye, and it's been fun for Tromsø. I've given up all hope. The performance against Viking was abysmal, and relegation is now pretty much a given. Which again means that Bernier will leave for some other club, along with him Ademolu, Kibebe, and pretty much every "foreign mercenary" (which we have a lot of). I mean, expecting them to stay at the club after a relegation would be silly. I doubt Tromsø will be able to return in the first couple of years, but hopefully this will mean the club can actually build something up from the ground again, the last few years have been way unstable.
Of course, though I am bitter over the way they are playing lately, it is perfectly understandable. In the match against Viking on sunday, Tromsø's subs bench had only Stamtopoulos (the reserve goalie) + 3 outfield players (of which one was a youngster who has never before played in the senior squad). The team has been plagued with injuries and sickness lately, even going so far as Hafstad contracting meningitis.

Whoa where's this scandal stuff coming from? I have a little yahoo page I look at that has headlines, but it has nothing on this.

I want to get a kit for my birthday, cause I mean for pete's sake I got a scarf. I'm gonna buy my own Lampard Euro away kit (all black, it's filthy), then maybe somebody like Juninho.

A double aside, I think next year I'm going to study abroad in England, London specifically. How dope would that be?
I would imagine season tickets are hard to come by though, right?

PS: Does Lyonnais have some type of deal where they don't let other outlets sell their jerseys? Also, where is a reputable place for kits? I'm kind of weary with some of these places...

It all started with a BBC documentary about different managers (especially Bolton's Sam Allardyce, who has now threatened to sue the BBC) accepting bribes to buy certain players they would otherwise not have bought. You can read more about it here.

And I'm guessing season tickets are hard to come by, I think most clubs in England have a waiting list. Also, thought I don't know this for sure, I've heard that Chelsea are among the more expensive clubs ticket-wise in England.

Poor Tromso. But that's going a bit far... if it's so bad that someone actually got MENINGITIS, then this season has to be cursed.

Eh... if you could get 7 or 8 points out of the last 4, you could have a second chance.

SCOTLAND 1-0 FRANCE.

What a FANTASTIC win. 3-0-0 after the first three games in a superbly hard group... I'd be thrilled with just a point against Ukraine, that sets us up nicely.

Sweden 2-0 Spain is also a fantastic result but... erm... Ireland wet the bed.

Bitter and pissed off. Braaten's goal was perfectly legit, the replays showed that he was onside, but for some reason the assistant ref. decided that he was not. We should have had a draw from this match, but things just didn't go that way.

Watching Greece was painful today, by the way. "Whoa, there's a player next to me, I guess that means I can fall down now!" - Even Portugal would be embarassed from the display the Greeks showed.

Well, it's not like it was a must-win game for you guys today. Now, Ireland and Wales had must-win games today and... yeah...

I can't see Aragones staying with Spain much longer.

Well, as the newspaper's headline said today "Here [picture of Braaten being onside while getting the pass] we're snubbed off a goal... ...but, oh well, we're still ahead of schedule"

Impressed by Scotland, yah. I know it seems like ludicrus to expect them to go through, but with a draw away to the Ukraine, they have a really, really good shot at it.

As long as Scotland doesn't cock anything up... a win would be incredible, a draw would be good, a loss would bring us back to reality but not in a horrible situation or anything.

Walter Smith received a standing ovation when he went to speak to the press after the game and said that he can't recall the last time that happened.

And Canada's playing Jamaica right now in a game not being televised... In Jamaica obviously since last month's game in Canada was broadcast. And we're down 2-1 in the first half.

So what's Hungary's deal? First we own them, so you figure, they're not close to what they used to be, then they beat Bosnia, so you figure, maybe it was just us being really good, then they lose to Malta, so you figure WTF?

I <3 Canada!

Ademolu and Bernier were teh shit today, Bernier basically owned the midfield, didn't do nothing wrong, Ademolu scored 1-1 and did all the work on Årst's 2-1.

The hope is there again! Lillestrøm will probably shoot us down again come monday next week, but with a win we could survive!
