Alright, so recently I've decided to try to emulate some of the PSX games that were left in our house when we moved in (no PSX was left, you see). My computer runs Windows 2000 Professional, and isn't really top-of-the-line to any extent.. are there any emulators that would run at a decent speed on my PC?

Depends on the specs of your PC to be honest. :\ ePSXe is the best emulator out there but you'd have to set it up and cross your fingers if your PC's not that good. Otherwise you can hunt down a copy of CVGS, which is probably the fastest (but not the best looking) PSX emulator out there - I could run Castlevania at 100% speed on my Celeron 300.

I'd definitely recommed ePSXe, as it's worked the best for me so far. However, the only games I've actually played using it were Final Fantasy 7 and some Spyro game. Both worked fine (although Final Fantasy usually had green bars along the edges of various objects in the game, but that was listed as a known issue anyways), and this computer is slightly less than top-of-the-line as well.

Here are the system requirements for ePSXe, just so you can see how your computer compares to what's recommended (taken directly from Wikipedia, so they should be right ):

Processor : P200MMX (Pentium II 450 or better recommended)
RAM : 64 MB (128 MB or more is recommended)
Graphics Card : 3D acceleration supported
OS : Windows 9x or higher/Linux
DirectX : DirectX 7a or higher, with Direct3D supported
CD-ROM : 16x or faster (optional)

It doesn't look like it's extremely demanding, but if you're just meeting the minimum requirements for most of the categories, I wouldn't expect anything too spectacular

Either way, as Colin already said, it really depends on your system specs, although with what you've said so far, it doesn't seem like you'd have any big problems. There's only one way to tell though.

Good luck

Except I'm totally fucking hyped about Dracula X: Chronicles.

you guys are forgetting about pSX. It's great, but the compatability sometimes isn't as good as ePSXe. but you don't have to waste time configuring plugins for each and every game either.
