What does yours look like?

Do you wish it looked different? If so, what do you wish it looked like?

(For the purposes of this survey, bald does count as a hairstyle.)

Mine's naturally red-gold, at least 36" measured from my front hairline over the back of my head (down to my hips and approaching tailbone), loosely wavy from the shoulders down, and thick (my ponytail measures 4" around and it braids into a fat rope). The individual hairs are meaty, too, so they're damage-resistant.

Overall, I love my hair. I just wish I had more of it, but I'm working on that. I'm growing it until it gets unwieldy. It would be nice to have waves the entire way up, but short of heat styling (which I won't do) or getting a perm (ditto), that's not going to happen. At least having it straight to the shoulders makes it look sleek against my head when I pull it back.

Blond and kinda balding. And I'm only 22 years old

It's kinda short, but long enough for a Ceaser-style combover.

It's dark brown, straight, and long enough to cover almost the entire neck. It's not shoulder length, but it's getting there.. slowly. The goal is to have it slightly longer than shoulder length.

Last time I had it cut was late August last year, so.. that's a bit more then 9 months ago.

My hair's short, and a dark/dirty blonde or light brown. It's scruffy and unruly and I am pondering growing it out because I think I miss my long hair.

Tarale - I'd say go for it. (Growing out your hair, that is.) Long hair can be pulled back or put up, which helps with the unruliness you describe. Also, is your hair unruly because it has wave or curl? If so, it will probably behave better long because it will lay down to some extent instead of just poofing. I can't speak from personal experience - my hair has been below shoulder length for as long as I can remember, and I never even knew it was wavy until recently because I'd been using too harsh products - but a bunch of wavy/curly people on the long hair boards I go to prefer their hair long for that reason.

Currently with dark brown hair that is semi-short (gets to my eyes, and goes stops in the middle of my neck)

I want long hair.

I rocked the long hair for a while. It's nice, but it's a pretty big pain in the ass, too. I used about twice the amount of shampoo I usually use just to get it clean.

Right now it's about to my eyes in the front, ear level around the sides, and a bit below the halfway point on my neck on the back. I know I just described a goddamn mullet, but I promise you, it is not... It's just the way my hair grows out.

Oh yeah... and girls with long hair do win. I've seen some cute short hair too, but long hair is the safest bet.

My hair sucks at the moment, it's short still, it's been long for the first 24 years of my life then I cut it last year. I liked it for a bit, but now I think I want it long again and it will take me at least the rest of this year to even think about putting it in a ponytail.

I'm thinking about purchasing hair extensions I'm so annoyed with it.

I used to have long hair a LONG time ago. Then it was shaved. Then, briefly, i had a mohawk combed to one side. Now its short, but slightly longer in the front than in the back.
Although there are some women who look fantastic with short hair, 9 out of 10 times they look better with long hair, in my opinion. The longer and thicker the better! Once, when i was young and kinda dumb, i refused to date a girl because her hair was too short for my tastes! *L* It was soooo short, it was practically shaved. She was real nice though, so in the long run i was just being a tard.

My hair is medium brown as I don't consider it dark dark. Since fifth grade it has always been long and down past mid-back then I let my best friend cut it early last year which she actually put a style to it and was just a tad past my shoulders. Now I'm growing it back out as I like long hair better even if it was good the way my friend did it. I did have it permed once (back in sixth grade) but it's back to straight now.

At the moment I really want purple streaks.

Agreed.

I have short hair. Short and darkish blonde. Kinda military-esque, if you don't consider "military" to be "buzz cut". I like my hair short; easier to manage.

Mine's pretty short. I'd say probably an inch and a half in front (just got it cut last Thursday) and going for the "bed-head with effort put into it" look. Basically, just piecing it out. Works better with whatever they use at the salon (yes, that's what it is).

My hair is a dirty blonde color, really wavy and unruly, and goes about halfway down my back.
I dislike my hair simply because it's a pain in the ass to deal with. If I had the time, I'd wash it twice a day - That's the only way it remains looking clean. And aside from that, it's a mess no matter what I do with it. Too thick.

But a lot of people compliment me on it because it's naturally highlighted and can look like I spent time making it wavy on good hair days.

My hair is actually quite easy to care for. Since I started using gentler products (such as an herbal shampoo with no sulfate cleaners), I can easily go 2 days between washes, 3 if I'm lucky. Although I work out about 5 days a week, the sweat just never makes my scalp gross. I'm not sure why, but I'm not going to complain. My hair detangles without much effort. I like to wear it in a ponytail because, for some reason, it helps it stay soft (probably because it's not flying around and getting dried out), and if I spray the ponytail with lots of water, the entire thing waves up to its full boingy potential. I can get my hair fully wavy on wash day, but it's difficult because I have to keep from touching it much during the several hours it takes to dry, and handling it while it dries makes the waves fall out. I used to think my hair was nearly stick straight (and I didn't understand why it sometimes waved up after it got rained on). When I discovered that it had wave, for a long time, I thought I had a wavy stripe down the back of my head and stick-straight hair at the front because the front never seemed to dry wavy.

Oh, and going to the salon is a non-issue. I trim the split ends with haircutting scissors. My hair is damage-resistant, so I don't need to do this all that often. When I feel that I need an all-over trim (it's been almost 10 months since my last one and I still have a blunt hemline, so that's going to be a while), I'll be able to cut it myself. Being able to trim my own hair is a relief because going to get it cut can be a crapshoot. I once had a stylist try to talk me into hacking off eight inches when I knew I only had about two inches of damage.

When my hair was at it's longest I basically washed it twice in one shower. If I only did one shampoo it was still dirty, but with two I could run my hand right through it without any resistance.

I just used Pert Plus, not any of that expensive crap Rydain has

My hair is curly and brown. You could change the color, if you tried, but you can't change the curly. My hair is stronger than hair product. I could style it with spray mount and it'd only last half the day. It's also water-proof, which can get annoying.

But on the bright side, it pretty much looks good whenever I want it to. Wash top, wash underside, attempt to wash the remaining dry hair, shampoo twice. Do the hot/cold thing if I feel like being shiny today the cost of some curl definition. Shake until desired number of curl clumps. Lightly towel dry. Done!

(And that self-trimming article was interesting. 'tis a shame I won't ever be able to use it.)

Not all of my crap is expensive. I'm fond of VO5 Free Me Freesia conditioner. Its main conditioning ingredients work well on my hair, it doesn't contain anything that tends to build up, and it's CHEAP. (As in less than $1 for a 22.5 ounce bottle.) Beauty Without Cruelty herbal shampoo probably falls under the category of expensive crap, but it takes me so long to go through that it really doesn't add up. I bought a 16 ounce bottle in mid-April for $5-6 or so, and it's at least 2/3 full.

I wear my hair in a ponytail a lot too, because it's easier to deal with. But it still gets tangled, I don't know what the problem is.

I use pantene usually, it makes my hair feel soft but doesn't do crap for keeping it tidy.

Seriously, my hair is a headache.
