Well, Creative Labs is looking into adding support for SPC700 sound dumps to Creative Mediasource Player. I dunno if anyone here uses that besides me, but I thought that maybe someone would be interested in knowing that. Frankly, I'm looking forward to being able to play .SPC files on CMS Player, aong with everythign else CMS supports

That's cool... though you can always convert your game system sound files to mp3 files by using Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin in Winamp. Sadly, it was removed with version 3 and beyond... probably something only included in the Pro package, or removed entirely for legal reasons. I just converted 3 songs today from gsf, psf, and spc dumps.

In that case, you would not need special support, it would just be MP3s. Size is a factor though, I guess.

I've just re-installed Winamp 5, after it screwed up and I deleted the entire program folder - including all plugins, and the Nullsoft Disk Writer plugin is definately there, installed along with Winamp 5. I've just been using it with the 64th note plugin to convert N64 soundtracks to wav for use in sampling.

And for me, the SNESAMP plugin for winamp will always be the best for playing SPC files. The option to increase the quality and sampling rate is awesome, and really does make a difference (to my ears, anyway).

Er.... I'll just assume you're right b/c I downloaded Winamp 5 "lite" so I guess that is one of the differences. Smaller download, had pretty much everything I needed (or so I thought.)

Yeah, thats the problem. I downloaded the standard version. I assume theres quite a few plugins and features left out in the version you have, hence the 'lite' in the title.

Yeah, if you look at the comparison on the download page, the Lite version has very few features.

Where did you hear about this anyway? I don't use CMS Player, or intend to, but it sounds interesting nonetheless, despite not being able to find anything about it...

Customer response email Gimme a sec, I'll copy-and-paste it.

EDIT: "At this time the file extension is not supported but, your request
for including this with CMS has been submitted."

Oops... I don't know for sure f they're looking into it... just that they're thinking about looking into it.
