So I have a phpBB running at http://board.fffire.com

I get spam accounts.... ALL THE TIME. I constantly have to be deleting and blocking e-mail accounts/addresses.

Now they've gotten smarter. They're coming from gmail addresses. Problem is, many use gmail, and blocking simply gmail would cause potentially active members a bit of a problem.

How can I stop advertisers?

Look for a captcha plugin. It will help block out bots at least.

I got a bunch of obvious spam accounts at my board a while back...

Oddly, they never posted. It was like they couldn't find the right forum. That doesn't help you any, but I thought it was an amusing bit of info.

Thanks for the help. It was great < /sarcastic bastard>

Anyway, captchas are becoming less and less useful.

Any other way to fix it?

When I had PHPBB the same thing happend. Then I realized switching to another forum system will keep them away, sure enough there gone. PHPBB is the only board I had a problem with spammers like that.
