The reason people say Sony copied Nintendo is because of all the copied things from the past. Rumble, analog stick, all Nintendo's ideas, then Sony took them. The Wii controller is considerably better than the PS3 controller, because all the PS3 one does is tell if you tilt it. The Wii controller practically has its own GPS inside it, and can tell where it is in a 3-Dimensional area. I always saw the Wii controller as an upgrade to the Virtual Boy, since its closer to virtual reality than a crappy camera that only works in a 2D environment.

Nintendo didn't invent the analog stick, Atari did. The 5200 controller was using analog control while the NES was still in it's planning stage.

As for "rumble", CH was the first company to implement that feature in a controller with their Force FX Apple II joystick.

But yeah, it's doubtful Sony would've released a new PSX controller sporting both these features shortly after the release of the N64 had Nintendo not went with these ideas.

I'm not saying Nintendo was the first, I'm saying Nintendo was the first to use it effectively and successfully. If we want to get into real technicalities, everyone stole everything from someone else.

Well, that's different because if you're the first to use a pre-existing technology and make it work, then of course other people are going to jump on the bandwagon. Just don't act cocky and say you're the first to come up with a technology that already existed, even if not many people experienced it.

$250 does seem a bit pricey for a Nintendo console (weren't all the others $200?) but if I can download obscure Japanese games in the Virtual Console (translated or not), I suppose that'd be worth it. And if I can download Diddy Kong Racing...

I agree that they oughta have Game Boy games though, especially since the DS doesn't play them. (C'mon, face it, DS is the next Game Boy whether they want to say that or not. ) If nothing else, I bet they release Game Boy games on DS cards though. (Even better would be a Game Boy emulator and an adaptor to connect GB carts, but that's never going to happen. Nintendo does some cool stuff but there is a limit; things that are too cool, they won't do.)

Yes, all the other Nintendo consoles were $200, but when you adjust for inflation, $250 isn't really high.

Don't forget that $250 is the MAX price point. It could probably launch anywhere between $199 and that. The N64 was going to be $250 but got dropped at the last minute.

...Yeah, and all the other consoles had lower tech specs as well. Wii FTW. frankly, I don't mind paying $250 or even a bit more (but that won't happen.) for the Wii, even $300 would be worth it for that, IMO, and the price is knwhere near that high.

I wanna play a Translated version of Star Ocean: Blue Sphere. So I agree with that too.

I bought my DS when it costed $200 so I donīt think itīs that pricey. And they might always decrease it.

Yeah, if you adjust for inflation it's fine, but my parents aren't going to do that. They're going to compare the $250 here to the $200 for the others and consider it expensive.

$250? Well, not too shabby for something... awesome.

Well, I don't have to save much then. Like the DS: save for a month. Heh...

But first, I need a job...

As for the Karaoke thing... yay?

Wouldn't be surprised if they added GB later among the downloadable games, maybe even making it possible to upload into the DS ram. (at least some of the simpler games should fit, together with a emulator). Sure the game disappears as soon you shut off the DS, but I doubt it's a problem for games like the first Super Mario Land.

HyperHacker, there's a adaptor that let's you play NES/Famicom carts on a GBA SP. Needless to say. It's a very clumsy solution, compared to just have a flash cart with NES roms. :/

I probably have to get a router too, heh. At least i'm able to use a net connection on my laptop too.

Two hundred-fifty? Not bad. But what about the games man..the games. I would much rather pay 300 bucks for my Wii but only 40-50 bucks for my games. Xbox360 games are going for 60-70..yikes!

If Sony decides to sell their games at 60-70 like Microsoft, then you can bet your ass Nintendo will too. No reason to keep current gen game prices when everybody else is hiking them up.

Bottom line: I need to get a job ASAP.

But you donīt understand. If Sony does that, most people will buy Wii for its cheap games.

Nintendo will gain on it.

Thats the point. I would rather buy a Wii for 250 and pay 60-70 for games than buy a PS3 for 600.

Are you sure about that. My point was that IF Sony decides to sell their games at 60-70 then most likely Nintendo would too. No difference. BUT if Nintendo sells their games at 60-70 and Sony decides to keep them at 40-50. Then the PS3 is actually cheaper.

Lets say you buy 20 games over the lifespan of your console.

PS3 20 games * $50 = 1000 + $600 for console = 1600 total cost games and console

Wii 20 games * $70 = 1400 + $250 for console = 1650 total cost games and console

Its all about the games man..who gives a shit about input devices or licensed brands. Don't buy your consoles based on price...they are ALL expensive as shit. If you really truly enjoy playing video games, buy it all.

"Don't buy your consoles based on price" sounds good, but most of us don't have access to unlimited money.

And why would Nintendo raise prices if it's competitors weren't? Especially since one of the planned Wii selling points seems to be the fact that it's cheaper than PS3 and X-Box 360....

Just read some reports from Sony and Microsoft. Apparently, Sony thinks the PS3 will replace the PC. HAHAHAHA, Sony is going to faill horribly if they think that. Microsoft said that "no one cares about old games, backwards compatibility is not on any ones mind." What the hell? What old games did they play?
