The Story Forum and Sim Battle Arena have been merged into one forum. I disagree with this decision and am lobbying to have them re-separated. Please PM me with any complaints, personal issues, words of support, or any kind of opinion at all on this matter. Thank you, and Happy Battling And Now I Guess Roleplaying Too.

Go you. I agree, the two were better off separated.

It's not a matter of not wanting to have to ignore threads.

It's a matter of wanting to keep things seperate and properly catagorized.

Xk, you're saying that the people in here should have to make a distinction between threads they work on and Johnny Spamalot's latest attempt to ridicule the roleplaying, only now it's doubly so because there's the same amount of crap in half the places?

To YOU, it's one extra table on a list that you removed about a third of already. What is so hard to you about NOT putting it back?

Here's my two cents on it.

The Story Forum and the Sim-Battle Arena are two completley different forums in their own right. Stories in the Story Forum are longer, more thought out, and actually can have many different plots within one story. The Sim-Battle Arena, on the other hand, is not as slow and detailed. Although their can be plot, sometimes there is no such thing.

While I never really participated in the Story Forum often and do find myself busy sometimes to remember to do some Sim-Battling, I think that maybe we could at least try this out before... you know, getting it separated. You never know, maybe the fusion could be... useful. You could have a battle that is 1vs1 and have other characters contribute to the story. I am somehow reminded of this battle. This battle also proves the difference in the Story Forum and Sim-Battle Arena to some extent...

So in conclusion, let's try it out for now. Then we should discuss this if things get messy.

I congratulate you for being the first person to give a well-thought-out, comprehensive reason for re-splitting the forum, that wasn't just "I don't like it this way and I'm crying to mommy".

In fact, congratulate yourself on being the main reason I'm resplitting them.

Now all of you shut up and stop whining.

Kirb's right, that is a bullshit reason for me to fight against this.

EDIT: I'll back down. Sorry for being a dick about it. I'm just really angry that this had to happen, I think it might just be my own inability to see that the forums aren't as active as I'd like for them to be. Lucky for all of us, Kirb knocked some sense into me about it.

CPU's right. Let's give this a try.

I can do it without Dracoon, if I really need to...

EDIT2: Wait. Wait just a darn second. I posted that in Private Area.

I dunno where you've been, XK, but when Skydude came back, the SF became a lot more active... And the two have a lot more content in them than a lot of the rest of the forums, not necessarily due to number of posts, but how much is actually there to read. The SF posts are some of the longest posts on the board, if not the longest, and they're all text. The entire reason why it's so inactive is because it takes a lot of time and effort to write that much, and as a result a lot of the activity in the SF takes place outside of it. The SF itself is just the end result.

The SB has a small community of about 20ish users in it at any given time, being active. While it's a small part of the 1400+ users that inhabit this board, they're a very devoted crowd, and there's a large degree of consistency of attendance in the forum. Disturbing something like that would actually more than likely bring activity in both places DOWN, as it becomes confusing to see where the difference between the two lies.

A battle is a single roleplaying situation that involves conflict and conclusion. It can be resolved easily and shortly. A story, on the other hand, goes for years and years at some points (I'm looking at Evil Reign Remixed, in particular, which has gone on for almost two years now...). Meshing the two together would eventually bring the differences in them to disarray, making the stories shorter (which is bad, because they suffer when there's little content to them, obviously) and the battles longer (which is bad, because they're designed to be short and easily concluded).

This may not mean much to you, but to the crowd itself, it's a little problematic. This is also noteworthy as some users refuse to participate in the SB, whereas other users refuse to participate in the SF. I'd also like to note that the two forums do have a bit of a reputation for being postcount++ due to the efforts of various users to spam them up, discredit their content, or in one particularly irritating case dump a thread in there that should have been trashed. Perhaps if some of our more critical users were to add to the activity in the forum, it'd be worthy of your judgement...

Look, see? That was in that thread. Didn't you read that?
