| Argh. The New Kids. Reponsible for a severe case of fangirlism among my fellow fifth graders. I was into the Beatles, and I did not understand why the New Kids were supposed to be so great. I'm sorry that they were inflicted upon the rest of the world.
While I'm at it, I'll apologize for Kris Kross. They didn't quite have the same overwhelming fangirl effect, but they were popular, and again, I didn't get it. "They're my age, they're cute, they wear their clothes backwards. So? That Jump song sucks." Of course, once they hit awkward teenagerdom, it was all over. At the school talent show, these identical twin boys did their hair up with a bunch of tiny rubber bands (trying their best to get their flaming red hair into a similar style to the Kris Kross guys' braids) and performed a lip synch and dance routine to some Kris Kross song. It was actually pretty good, especially because they did some move where they locked arms back to back and one flipped the other over. I feel old now.  |
