nobody has made anything for the n64 scene though, so its pointless making these editors and such since no one will even use them.

What the fuck?

Sorry for the language, but have you noticed that no editors have yet been released? Therefore, no one has been able to make any hacks? It's pretty simple if you think about it. Very, very few people will even consider attempting to hack a 3D N64 game without an editor.

And the only two N64 editors in existance - for F-Zero X and Mario 64 - are very close to release. As far as I know, the F Zero editor will be able to edit everything.

Mark my words, as soon as these editors are released - the entire N64 rom hacking scene will grow, and there will be hacks-a-plenty. Many people will use them.

will those hacks work on all n64 emulators or only specific ones? and may I ask why did it take so long for some editors to finally come out?

1. All emulators most likely

2. Because the data for the game doesn't slap you in the face, and the editor itself doesn't magically form. They take a long time to make

Yes...with an editor thats taken YEARS to develop.

These hacks don't just magically appear, you know. It takes incredible hard work and a long, long time spent to do these things.

Also, F-Zero's level format is way simpler than OoT's.

Definately, but its still way too complicated for most hackers to even start to comprehend. I know I would never be able to create an editor for a 3D game, mostly because I suck at maths.

...Also, incase anyone hadn't realised - the F-Zero X editor thats being developed by BGNG (hoping I got his name right there) is being released on the same day as the Mario 64 editor by VL-Tone = 21st June.

Ok...I'll try not to go off topic in this thread again.

OOT's level format is really easy to understand, hence why I didn't put any tutorial.
I just have no idea how I would go about loading the vertexes and stuff in C++, just psuedo code

A Zelda 64 map viewer would be an impressive technological feat, although I guess it can kinda be half-assed already via the Debug ROM's debug camera.
