You're apparently allotted two message boxes per level, according to LM. I thought a neat way to get around this would be to have a stage that actually used two levels, with a pipe to transition between them, so that the stage would then have four available message boxes.

Apparently I thought wrong -- after using the pipe to go to the second half of the stage (in a different level), the message box was the same as the corresponding message box for that X coordinate in the first half of the level.

Is there something I'm doing wrong here or is this just not possible?

It's possible with a custom block that changes the current level number. I'll make it if I have time over the weekend. Nag me about it on Friday or I may forget.

EDIT: Sorry, my method actually doesn't work. Maybe there's another way.

The item box uses the primary level number (the number of the level you entered from the OW). If you change this number during a level, the item box text will change. However, if I recall correctly, this may mess up some things (level end?). Also, if you try to press Start + Select, it'll check the level number you changed to instead of the one you're in.

I had this problem too. I got the first lvl of my hack as Marios house then you find in the middle of the 2 screen area a message box that tells you that the princess has been kidnapped by Bowser and has taken her to Rogueport. Then to the right, you will find a door. Go inside and you will warp to a field with Goombas and Koopas. But some other message boxes that should say things that were meant to be said only in that lvl, will repeat the message from Marios house lvl.


I think that method should help.

there's obviously no easy solution to this problem, and i cant offer any real help.

but i want to make a comment/suggestion that no one wants to read that many messages in a level anyway so i wouldn't worry about it unless it's an absolute necessity
