The posts that he's made in the wrestling thread pretty much defeat that argument.

And to everyone who's registering accounts when banned... um... Do you know that you can send private messages to admins when banned unless we disable that function on a certain account?

Which is another reason why this was a terrible idea, most people will just re-register. Yes, I did too, though not for account restoration, just so I could say how stupid this was (and I did on the last (edit: before last..) page for those that missed it) and go back to lurking, I don't care about my old account really. But, honestly.. Why would you even want to go through the 60+ accounts that have been banned and fix them all manually? Assuming most\all request to be fixed?

Eh, I just don't get this one, sorry. Doesn't seem amusing.. Maybe, MAYBE if it were scripted to temp ban someone for a few hours, then it might have been worth a chuckle. But this? It seems to be doing a lot of unneeded harm, and branding the curious as idiots.

Woah, fourteen pages. No way I'm reading through this one.

Well, I clicked it. Out of curiosity, thinking it was a thread with a title that the author put a lot of html on. I got suspicious halfway while it was loading, but before I could do anything, I was banned. ;[ I probably wouldn't have clicked the link if I had actually seen the text at the header first.

So, yeah. I see XKeeper's point in the announcements page. The whole "bugzapper" thing was probably kind of useless, but on the other hand, it would probably help tell the noobs that the staff (and a lot of others, likely) are getting extremely annoyed, and are attempting to keep them from breaking the last straw. I suppose it's a good way to tell them to either stfu or gtfo.

... Ah, who am I kidding? It'll probably make them act even more noobish.

And in a couple of days, the "No 2 accounts for 1 person" will come out and have it's luxourious dinner of morons.

Here's some false content.

SOLUTION TO NOT CLICKING THE BLINKING RED TEXT:

1) Place mouse over link.

2) Start hitting 's' constantly.

3) Wait until you see the text, "A trap has been detected on this link."

4) Hit 'l' to looks at things and get the cursor to land on the link.

5) It'll say, "Rune of Banning, Disarm Chance: Impossi-bility-ble."

6-A) Now walk away from link, and you won't suffer. Don't get into close proximity, or you might accidently trigger it.

6-B) Do not try to disarm.

I completely agree. however I think these two points are worth noting:

Curiousity is seeing the URL says "BAN ME"

Stupidity is clicking it.

We all had fun with this thread, so it's time to return to our normal lives.

Who knows if something similar like this will happen in the future? Only time will tell.

This should be done once a month. That way, the hordes of n00bs that register and barely post can be filtered out in their majority.

But... if they barely post, what's the problem? If you say one somewhat stupid thing and vanish, what's the harm? I think the issue is more with the recurring stupidity. Moreover, if they only barely posted, odds are they aren't paying much attention to the board and would have no real reason to click the link.

Never underestimate their stupidity. Some people I know would KILL to delete the board... they'll click and not check the address first.

And to the guys who still have the link in their headers or sigs, you should keep them.

Why do I find this somehow scary? I've got this paranoid vision of people hiding that in random links... Even though I know that they wouldn't be able to actually get it... Gah!

Of course, I haven't seen too many random Goatse's here, so... Seems like it would be safe. of course, if they always have it under "DELETE THE BOARD", I know I don't have to worry too much...
