Hey gang,

I have a question for you guys whoever is a junior or senior in high school. If you guys had your HS prom? Did ya'll have dates or did many of you guys go alone? The reason why I ask this b/c my prom is this week. I asked a couple of girls would they like to be my date, some said they'll think about it and others said they already have a date. So I decided that I'm going alone, 'cuz it's my senior year and I should go just for the hell of it. Basically, i just want you guys opinion or comments about my problem. Thanks.

Ask someone to go as a friend only. Preferably an already good friend who's a girl. It works 95% of the time. Or at least.. in what I've seen. My friend Kevin asked my sister to go as a friend.. and made it seem like they'd have MAD fun cause she knows everyone in the limo and such. I'm going with Dave.. but we're just going togeter as a date.. we're all gonna be in the same limo. Mad people are gonna be there.. it's gonna be so amazing I'm so EXCITED. Ahhh my first prom [=..

But yeah.. ask a friend. And be like "we'll just go as friends.. dance.. party it up.. it'll be fun!".. and ask a good friend who's a girl already. I mean.. it'll probably be more fun that way.. as opposed to going with someone you don't know that well as a "date".

Or, if you're like I was as a senior in high school and you don't have many female friends to speak of, go solo. I went with my then-girlfriend but, if not for her, I would've gone alone. (Well, I more likely wouldn't have gone at all, but several guys in my class went alone and had a blast hanging with their friends). There's no shame in going without a date, and you might even have better memories that way; without going into detail, though I had a fairly enjoyable senior prom, the events following it regarding my girlfriend colored it such that I'd rather not think about it much...

But seriously, if you can't find a girl, that shouldn't stop you from going. You might otherwise look back and think of what you've missed.

For the whole prom thing... I find it hard to say, but... It definitely varies. Sometimes, it's not worth going anyway... Other times, it can be fun even without the date part.

Of course, I didn't go.

This won't make much difference anyway, with the thread poster gone, but... yeah. Just had to throw it out there.

If the poster's gone, there's a really good reason.
