(I've searched the entire room and it's the only exit besides the bottom one that leads me back to water crateria) If it's killing alot of metroids then i suppose i'm just not good enough, i could hardly scroll through my items fast enough to access the bottom exit of the room the first time.

Hate to say it but most of the grey doors you'll have to kill all the Metroids in the room and at least a good number of the regenerating ones. Just keep trying at eventually the doors will open.

Yeah I wanted to make it through the hack without using savestates myself but Tourinian made that very..........difficult...

Bt just a word of advise for when deeling with the Metroids. Persomally I found out that standing still and letting them come to you works easyer than running to them or away cause in most cases theres no running from them. Another thing in case you havent noticed but if you freeze one thats comeing out of the breeder (I still say Metroid breeding machnes are overkill) then they'll stop for a few seconds good if you need to move on or catch your breath.

OK Drew, I love what I've seen of your hack but after finally becoming able to walljump five times in a row (how many do you need ot get out of that shaft where the wall jump boots are, anyway?), you put a little enemy crawling along the wall, right where I need to be, and my string of jumps is ruined! Now that was just plain mean!

(Going to keep at it because of all the raves this game is getting... but the walljump stuff is just a little out of hand...)

Ok I will make it easy, I found the statue in Sector 1 Norfair and the one in the transition room of Ridley's Hideout where it's underneath tons of lava. I can't find Norfair's 3rd statue. Also I can't find 1 of Brinstar's statues. I have the one with the 2 Green Gates to release the Etecoon bird.....can't remember the other one. Plz help me for the last time....

Yeah, I got passed those spikes with the gravity suit......Problem though, I will restart your hack, Drewseph, because my harddisk recovered from a serious error during gameplay and there is nothing left of what I did. Basically I have to start from scratch again, and that really pisses me off.....

Starting from scratch isn't so harsh in a Metroid game, where half the challenge is finding all the stuff. Do it over from the beginning and your finishing time will be much less!

FatherBrain, you're further along than I am, but your nickname is so cool that I think people will be lining up to give you advice. ^^ Welcome to the board!

So, in Norfair I've found a system of morphball tunnels which becomes accessible only after getting the speed booster... except that it hasn't really become accessible at all. Right at the beginning of it, there is a high jump which is too high for the spring ball to reach. I can add the height of one bomb jump to my spring ball jump with the right timing, but it looks to me like the top is too high for even two bomb jumps and a spring ball jump. I think it would be possible to get up there if i were allowed to unroll in these tunnels, so I wonder if unrolling has been forbidden here in error?

By the way, this hack is in the running for "Best ROM Hack Ever". It's comparable to FuSoYa's Super Mario World opus.

Hmm. For some reason I wasn't able to post a reply the other day when I tried. So much for that post. Long story short, you did a fantastic job on world design. The game is kinda slow at first, with all the back and forth to get the basics, but it really comes into its own around the time you have to do the hell run... which was a real bastard but I got it eventually. Could I have bombed up and gotten that 4th tank before dying had I known it was there? Maybe I'll have to start a new game and see.

Anyway, like I said it had good points and bad, but kudos to you on a superb hack. I don't see why people had so much difficulty with wall jumping, I can 1wj if I care to give it a few tries.

Anyway, I had a point. And here it comes. Note the hole I can't reach in the photo. As far as I can tell there's no way to reach it... and even if there is, it would mean coming from the other side, which would be pointless. Did you do that specifically to tease us?

Given that people are playing Super Metroid on a flashcart using SNES DS, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible .

I've got the speed booster, wave, spazer, high jump, grapple, scope and various tanks, can't explore Maridia yet... and I'm kinda lost. Been running around for several days. I've found a bunch of missile tanks and whatnot, but haven't advanced in the game. What of these Lost Caverns people have posted about... could someone give me a hint as to where I should be concentrating? I'd appreciate it as I think I've pretty much exhausted almost every place I've got mapped out.

*edit* Found the lost caverns. (They live up to thier name, I'm clueless for now.) That entrance was pretty obscure, even though there was a slight visual cue. Woulda been a lot easier if passages showed up on the scope. No real complaint though, as I found all kinds of upgrades while looking.

Hey, I just finished this game, and registered to thank you for such an awesome hack. Super Metroid is my all-time favorite game, and (while I couldn't have done it without a ton of savestates) it was amazing rediscovering it with such a vast/challenging world compared to the original. I also liked how subtle changes (altered physics/gates/items, replacing a level with the lost caverns, adding the guardians, etc) helped it feel like a new game rather than an ordinary map hack.

BTW, there was one minor glitch I noticed in the escape sequence. In this one place, there's a tunnel you're supposed to morphball into, and then below it there's this dead end you can fall and walk around in. The glitch is that when I fell in there, all of the buttons except left/right/shoot stopped responding, so I couldn't jump out. I attached a map with the grid square highlighted, zipped b/c the site won't take bmp's and I don't have image conversion software.

Anyway, again, awesome job with the redesign.

Two of them near Kraid, one is right after you beat Kraid, the other at the entrance to Norfair. Use this image for reference.

First of all, this is absolutely incredible -- thank you to everyone who had a part in bringing this to fruition.

In any case, I'm stuck! I hesitate to say I 'just' got Speed Booster (and as a result, Spazer), because I've done three ridiculous (well, only one was crazy) Shinespark loops to grab some items (hooray more Energy Tanks!). In theory, my next items should be Wave Beam, then Gravity Suit, and maybe X-Ray Scope thrown in somewhere?

If anyone could tell me which side of which area I need to visit next (specifics aren't neccessary), I would really appreiciate it.
