Well, I finally got it working. Here's my review:
10/10. Easily. Being a Metroid addict myself, I can do nothing less than commemorate you fully on the work you've put into this hack. If I can make a Metroid hack half of what this is, then I'm happy with it. You are my inspiration, honestly. The way your maps are designed is absolutely stunning, something I've always tried to achieve. Another thing you do that I want to is hide power-ups all over the place without any linear path to them, this game actually makes you think, something not known in today's games. Although I'm still trying to get the Ice Beam (are you supposed to run through Norfair without the Varia Suit? That HURTS...) I can tell you that the real reason I'm not playing further right now is because I'll get too inspired, my rooms will look like yours and I'll have to redesign them. Damn it... But the power-ups, the maps, the rooms, it's brilliant! Thanks to your hack I know what regulations to set my own against, and how to efficiently hide power-ups without a linear path to them. You've returned the beautiful taste of old Metroid games and for that you are officially one of the greatest hackers ever. If I ever need help designing maps or rooms, it's you I'll turn to first. (I, the 13th Prodigy, am the first comment on the thirteenth page! That's just awesome.) (edited by The 13th Prodigy on 05-18-06 06:39 PM) |

Augh.
This hack is freaking fantastic, but man is being stuck in the pit in northeast norfair frustrating. Other times I've been stuck, I've been able to come up with something... But man, this is just ridiculous. I don't know what to say; I've systematically bombed and shot everything down there I could see, tried many combinations of jumps, and... Eh. Nothing seems to work. |

Would you happen to be stuck in an "U" shaped room, if so. In the bottom left of the room, there is a ledge that can be bombed, bomb it, and it shoudl reveal a morphball passway. Once you know the general location of it, you wonder how you missed it before.

You mean here?
Yeah, I've bombed there many times before, and it didn't help this time, either. Edit: AUGH! THERE IT IS! Hahahahaha (edited by Hhllrssstttxaaeioy on 05-19-06 12:43 AM) (edited by Hhllrssstttxaaeioy on 05-19-06 12:57 AM) |

I know
It was pathetic that I couldn't think to go there. But I'm doing alright now. |

OK, I love this hack, and I must say that I have always wanted a sequal to Super Metroid. Well sir, this is a sequal of sequals. I can not believe in how many ways this game is better then the original. I have been having so much fun with this game. I play it every day on my PSP. Anyway, GREAT JOB.
OK, so I am stuck. Ha ha. I have done most of the game, I am in Maridia now, and have killed all the bosses, Kraid, Phantoo(ghost guy), Ridley, Draygon(big green water boss). I have all items except the 'special item'. I have found all Choso guardians but 2. One of them is missing in Norfair and another in Maridia. I need help big time. I have been searching for 2 days, with no luck. Do I need the special item? Where the hell is it? Also there is a tall wide room a little right from the 4 gate room on the map in Maridia that has a metal gate on the left side of the room. I don't know how to open it. And how the hell do you get to the room above the 4 gate room to open the other 2 gates? Someone please help me. |

I'm trying to get the hack to work on a dreamcast. I burned it, and now all I'm getting is a flashing red screen. It works just fine on ZSNES 1.36, so I know that it isn't a problem with the ROM. Any ideas?

I found the spazer, dear god that was annoying.
So can anyone direct me after getting the grapple, high-jump boots and speed booster. |

I'm still looking for the hi-jump boots =/
On a possibly related note, how do I get through all these speed boosting areas where you don't have even close to enough room to build up speed? I've tried charging the speed booster and bringing it elsewhere, but the charge fades long before I get anything good done with it, and apparently you can't do that thing where you super jump right into a slope to get the charge again in this game. The here, in particular, boggles me: I swear, there has to be a way to keep it longer... (edited by Hhllrssstttxaaeioy on 05-19-06 11:11 AM) (edited by Hhllrssstttxaaeioy on 05-19-06 11:19 AM) |

You mean these (see attached)?
Prepare for some serious shinesparking. For the super missles, I went through 4 rooms, and for the energy tank, only 2 rooms. Edit: Spoiler: That's the location of the spazer, go to the right, then up. And that little bit where you bomb the block. That stretch is where you charge. (edited by Arthus on 05-19-06 11:13 AM) |

I started playing your hack yesterday, drew, and may I say that it is the most challenging and fun hack I have ever played.
I need help in the acid chamber with the reflecting block. I extended the bridge but I can't figure out what to do next. Is there something that I am not seeing because I can't jump across the last stretch of acid without being too weak to fight the Torizo. |

Alright, I got the bombs and beat the Torizo, but I probably did it the wrong way. I jumped in the acid from off the pipe and got out of the acid with 19 health. How was I supposed to do it. (edited by zaphod on 05-19-06 01:22 PM) |

Shinesparking is where you charge a speed boost and do that side-power dash thingy. The term is "Shinespark" so to do it would be "Shinesparking" Also, here are the two routes for the Shinespark, if you find easier routes, good for you . |

I believe that I know how to get across, I just need a few pointers on how to do it. After I extend the bridge and jump across to the last grass covered platform there is a tunnel above me. I believe I need to get in there as a morph ball but I can't see how it is possible. Is there a trick to it.

Jump and morph in mid-air. And you should be able to sneak in.
