lol, while Ultima was an awesome dude, I'd hardly call his editor anywhere as usable as SMILE in it's current state. And though it's open source, it's also written in Delphi. Have fun with that.

Well he originally said this was version 1.0 in his first post of this thread.. I'd say, he'll probably consider it, but not before having taken a well deserved rest. Really though, I do agree about Hells Run, it is one of the main things that needs tweaked, most everything else is just a brain twister; but that run is more of a trial and error deal - and trial and error is rarely a good thing. =/

Good concept though, I'd say leave half of it as it is, and make one room (perhaps the beetle room?) not burn Samus. It would make it a lot more obvious what the player needs to do in there, or at the least, it would make things a lot less unforgiving. (You really can't screw up once, if you do it is game over.) Still though, I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, he likely needs that break.

Oy, I have to agree with you there. When I think of a level editor for this game, SMILE is all that comes to my mind anymore.. And though Ultima's editor serves a lot of potential, it just doesn't do it in its current state. I'd love to see more of it of course, but I don't think he's shown any public progress in quite some time, so I don't know how much hope can be held in that. Meanwhile, <3 SMILE.

Wow! Thanks for the previous poster who mentioned where to find the Wave Beam.
Once you find those items (Wave Beam, Speed Booster, then Hi-Jump Boots), the rest all opens up! (at least for now).

Keep at it! It does get incredibly fun when you're finding powerups left, right and center.

Good job with the Bomb-Jump being included with the Hi-Jump boots.
And what also roxx0rs, are those powerups that increase more than the usual amount!
10 Missiles anyone?

Can anyone (Drewseph maybe?) help me figure out this damned SMILE program? All I can figure out how to do is crash/break the rom. Doors! How to edit them??

Oh and if I remember correctly, the G.Beam is a lil north of you.

Underneath the room with the "Main Guardian" in Mardia, there is a tall room with two regular missle gates (which I've opened) and another gate with a seperate lock. Can anyone help me find the lock? And could I get some hints on the four gate puzzle?

Great hack, enjoying it so far but completely stuck in Norfair.

I have the Varia suit, travelled left and downwards, to a room where I go as far right as possible. There is a creature jumping up/down from lava and a lava dragon spitting to left at you. Top right of screen is a narrow passage about 2 characters away, but creature jumping up/down cannot be froze and dragon is under passage.

Please help.. wondering if charge beam is required to freeze creature (jumping up/down) as I cant think of any other solution,

Yeah, Im still stuck in this room as well...

In fact, the only thing I could think of to do at this point is a diagonal double bomb jump, but that just crosses the line between being fun hard, and being just flat out MEAN... That thing is HARD to pull off correcly.

Seriously, if thats the only way, then take it out in the next release.

The chaos sprint? Fine as it is... it took me a few retries though... the beginning I have to say is the hardest part to get through. (Stupid slope into lava...)

Well I'm officially giving up!
This hack is way hard, and for quite a while, it is fun. But once you start having to find those "statues", it just goes over the top.

Sure, I've only found one... but I don't really feel like going through every place that I have before just for find some impossibly placed thingo.

Great job on the hack, Drew. But you did over-do it in plenty of places.

Maybe I'll go into that Maringo-water..ingo-place and see what's there later on, but if there's nothing there, then I've lost all hope!

This hack is impossibly hard, but it did give me a good 4 days of entertainment.

Good job!

If you give up and have no idea where the hell to go, find the (2hr 11min) speed run of this hack. It only works for the snes9x improvment-9 ver thingy, but it shows you how to get every beam/boot/misc item (not all the tanks tho, but everything else) and the statues. Just fast forward to parts you need.

PS: Someone show me how to use SMILE! It's so confusing! I really need to know how to edit the doors.

If I... you know...

HAD the charge beam...

You could always dash, jump and morph in mid-air like I did...

At first, that didnt seem possible, because there is like, no room to morph...

However I did manage to do it... after 10 minutes of trying and hitting the rewind key...

You've created quite an amazing mod Drewseph. I really appreciate it. For someone that is as big of a fan of Metroid as myself, i really couldn't ask for more in a fan modification. I'm not even half way through yet but i really like how it takes a veteran of the Super Metroid game to enjoy it but isn't overly difficult.

There's always gonna be the childish people who can't appreciate anything that has been given to them for free or will claim something sucks just because they aren't good at it. This game has something that recent the recent metroid games and Nintendo games in general have lost. The requirement to think for yourself.

Ok that was just crazy Drewseph.

I've understood the placement for all of the items thus far making it so you have to get the item to leave the section you're in and using that item to get to the next area.

BUT!!!

Those Hi-Jump boots are nothing like the rest...

You left the ENTIRE world up for grabs in finding these boots and in the end having them hidden back in a small room you've been in alreadt with little to know knolegw to go back just dumb-luck?!?

I'm sorry bu thats pushing it just a little to far.

Maybe if you needed to use the Grapple Beam to get to that first room or something therefor giving the players reason to go back.

Thank you for acknoleging this, everyone who has trouble with this hack lacks the will to explore and figure out things for themselves. even my automaps help show players where to go when first entering an area, the rest of the clues are given in dead ends with the requirment of certain items to proceed.

I'm glad the metroid fan in you likes this hack

ok where do I go now and how do I do it?

I remembered the area I couldn't get to in Crateria after searching around Brinstar and Norfair for the Gravity Suit or a decent entrance to Maridia. (After what you pulled in Norfair I wouldn't be suprised that you'd make us go through Maridia partway without the Gravity Suit). But now I feel like I've gone to far for this to be a dead-end/come back later. So I've bombed/X-Rayed everything around here and All I've been able to do is get stopped at two areas (the parts I've circled).

Any idea how to get through this watery mess.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f225/Megaman-Omega/Other/Crateria.png

You know now that I think about it. Maridia was huge to begin with. And If you canmake every room 3-4 times bigger... Maridia's gotta be friken enormous!

Megaman-Omegs: Nothings as big as Norfair. and you were in the right area before when you were in the left water room in the screenshot, just keep going, you need hi-jump, but from the looks of it, you have it already.
