"None," Django replied, as he prepared to fire again, "I told you I'm not a vampire. I can't turn others into Undead or Immortals..."

Sabata took a few steps back, and grimaced as he saw the ring of smoke move around. 'Great... just to make this worse...' "Django!" he asked his brother, as he ran towards the center of the safest area - that is, the one that would take longer to be completely on fire. "Don't let him get away, will you?" he continued, as he began to prepare another Black Hole. However, he had an extra trick, if Jack managed to get past his brother...

Django nodded, and made sure to maintain his aim on Jack. If he tried to move, he'd fire at once.

Despite all of the suffocating ash and falling debris, Jack kept his stare fixated on Django like a gargoyle. He snickered under his breath as he mockingly placed the tip of his boot forward, triggering Django's reflexes right away. The dark shot came at him, and with extraordinary speed Jack whipped out his dagger and sliced the air, bouncing the projectile toward Sabata in the distance. Some of the damage was absorbed in the blow, but Jack didn't take very much.

Another burning branch fell on him right afterward, and he pushed it away while cursing sourly.

(OoC: Um... Solar Shot.)

Django cursed, as he saw the Solar Shot fly at Sabata, but the Dark Boy just moved his body an inch away, without moving the Gun del Hell away, and continued preparing the Black Hole. "Don't let him get close!" Sabata alerted, just as he finished the first fourth of the Black Hole.

ooc: I seem to have lost all desire for RPing... but I'll try to finish these ones I'm in, at least.

Jack: "What, are you just going to sit there doing nothing, both of you?"

Jack tugged over the chest of his coat and stood back in a crouch. The thick smoke enshrouding the entire meadow did not bother him, but the burning branches that fell from the air kept landing dangerously close and were a true threat. In spite of this, Jack maintained his calm and slightly bored demeanor as a faint magenta light glowed around him and he was lifted a few inches from the soil. Adjusting to the change in gravity, Jack twirled in the air for a moment, but then aimed his dagger at Django with a threatening look.

Jack: "Go on and keep that attitude with this. Immortal wannabe."

Jack leaned forward and pushed his dagger ahead of him, and as he did this the smoke around him converged into a giant ball, sucked in by some invisible force. This did not last long, and in the next instant this phantom force was tearing along the ground with phenomenal speed, angled to hit Django and Sabata behind him. Whatever it was, it was powerful enough even without being amplified by Jack's power ring; a thick fissure was torn in the ground that it traveled along, and the very molecules in the air seemed to split into pieces as flew by. The brothers, likewise, would be mincemeat if they were caught in the attack.

"What the-" Django began, but he stopped, jumping away and firing at Jack, just as Sabata did the same, the Black Hole being consumed by the sphere.

The duo grumbled, and Sabata made a movement towards Django. "Guess we're gonna have to end this old-style... don't let him escape!" he said, Django nodding as well, before the twins began firing at Jack, until the first 'battery' had been drained.

At the current rate, the fire would be near its peak by then...

The pink aura faded, and Jack gently landed on the dry dirt. He was going to shakily resume his battle stance, when he found that his attack had been successfully dodged by both brothers... and, they had each retaliated with their own special shot. Both the light and the dark shots hit Jack square in the chest, and he was knocked roughly to the ground on his back. He hardly had the strength to get up, let alone dodge the following battery, which only further pounded him senseless into the ground. Once it was over, Jack limply waved his arm in a sign of resign.

"Alright, that's enough... victory is yours," he coughed.

"...I'd tell you to enjoy the spoils, but..."

He only looked up through the ash at the burning trees. His point was easily made; escape would be impossible through any conventional means, as they had spent all of their time fighting to escape. He couldn't help but marvel at the irony, even when it faced him like this. Painfully, Jack lifted himself onto one elbow while grasping a burning branch that had fallen next to him, hardly conscious of the searing heat. Finding that the brothers' shots had curiously drained energy enough even to stand, he just stopped his attempt at rising and took to staring tiredly at them. He sighed.

Jack: "This is the fun part, then. I expect the reapers will be here for me in a moment, though I'm not sure if you guys are game to them. I'm still not sure if you can die, yet. If they do take you, have fun in the Netherworld."

Jack laughed bitterly to himself, as he was reminded of his past endeavors in the land of the dead and how unfair it had all been to him.

"Hope you've been good boys, when Judgment calls."

Jack fell back to the ground, defeated. It wasn't long before he could feel the flames cover his body, and their nightmarish sting. It was a horrible sensation, even to his numbed senses, and he thought that he much preferred bleeding to death to burning.

"It's only a warm-up for days to come," He said to himself, envisioning Suffering, and the reapers casting him into it. He started when he realized that he could even see one in the distance then, slowly shaking its head at Jack in disappointment. It was probably someone he knew, someone he had reaped with in the old days. It was unaffected by the flames as it adjusted its hood, tightly gripping its scythe as it made its approach to him.

It stepped over the ring of black skull-shaped smoke wisps on the ground. Jack's power ring, which although difficult to see had not vanished. 'Of course,' he thought, as he called the last of its power to him. With it, he didn't have enough energy to do anything but lie there in burning agony, or teleport to a safe location.

Hurriedly, he drew an item from his coat that was not fully damaged from the fires, and closed his eyes in concentration. The ring of unearthly smoke condensed around him, coating him like a blanket and dimming the fires on his body as he faded out of existence. The reaper quickened its pace to a run and grabbed for Jack with a ghostly yell, but its gloved hand grasped only air - Jack was gone.

"Better readjust your schedule, Fell," Was the last thing he had uttered to the reaper before he escaped the inferno, headed to some unknown location. Wherever he turned up, he'd be a sight to see - a half-charred living corpse that might have time to fully heal in a week.

The invisible reaper Fell cursed to himself and stared at the spot where Jack had just lain moments before. He had left an item on the ground, which was soon going to be completely eaten by the flames; but in the instant before he left, he had made it clear to Sabata and Django with his slight telepathic powers that the item was for them, if they could claim it in time. A simple black hourglass, with ashen sand drifting from the top chamber to the bottom. It still had lots of time before it'd stop.

OoC: Sorry if that ending was too long or seems a tad off topic. And sorry about being inactive as I was, though I'm surprised I was able to write that much just now. Pleasure battling with you, although I think you could improve yourself by adding a little more to your posts - they barely passed one sentence in length at times.

Get Jack's item and I'll explain its powers

Django wasted no time, once he realized what Jack had meant... and ran towards the hourglass, picking it up, even as he began the now-painful transformation into Black Django.

"Come on, we've gotta hurry!" Sabata screamed, even as he began to concentrate into the area outside the forest they were, his body beginning to glow with the power of Darkness around him...

Django merely shoved the hourglass into a pocket, making sure it wasn't broken, before initiating the transformation into a bat. The sunlight was painful... but it was not going to kill him before he could land in a safe area and transform back, thankfully. As soon as he was in an area wide enough in that inferno, he flew away, through the smoke, and towards the glade that led to the forest.

Sabata warped away as well, landing just beside him, who had detransformed already, and was panting as the sunlight burned him... but he was beginning to change into his other form again. "So... what now?" Django asked, even as he took the hourglass from his pocket, staring at it.

Lifeline Hourglass

This is an item that is assigned to every mortal, and is carefully watched by the Council of the Dead in the Netherworld. Once the ash reaches the bottom of the glass, the mortal dies and is ready to be reaped.

The nametag on this glass is blank, suggesting that it is not tied to anyone. Crack the glass and sprinkle some of the life dust on yourself, and your lifeline will be increased! This can also be used in a dire situation, as a sort of extra life if you're in a situation that you cannot escape, alive.

OoC: Just say one of your characters adds this to their stock. If he ever finds himself stuck in another thread, he can use this as a last resort.
