| No, I like SMW's springboards, and they look nice in SMB3's palette, IMO.

Yeah agree, the springboards look good... A few alterations wouldn't hurt though.

| I like the BG in those latest shots.
A suggestion, though. You could try "mixing" tilesets used in SMAS, like Trasher did in his hack. (for example, mixing the SMB grass with the SMB3 "wooden" FG) It's just a suggestion, though, and hell... for all I know it may not work in your hack.  |
