That's BS, Alastor. I dislike Pipe World too, but Ice World had some really rocking levels and Bowser's world was okay, 5, 4, 3 were cool, 2 had the Sun and a couple other neat tricks, and 1 was really the most boring level. Not that I didn't think 1 was appropriate for what it was, an opening world, but your theory just doesn't make sense.

You've got a bad memory, man. Just because that one building made out of ice cubes where you had to fly was bad doesn't mean ones with ice munchers and others weren't great.

Oh, and these shots are overrated. I agree with AtS in that while I see nothing particularily bad in them, there's nothing at all that makes me think of originality or, what's the word... fun?

If you put cool things in the enemy-less Mushroom castle levels, that might change, but areas designed merely to look nice have never been and never will be fun.

If you're using SMA4 graphics, please, PLEASE, don't use the GBA palletes. The GBA colors are drastically toned down and look absolutly horrible on the GBA let alone the SNES where it just clashes (I can see your SMW winged Goomba standing out in particular which was why I mentioned it...). Other than that I absolutly love these screenshots. Great job

The screenshots look great, especialy the ice levels. But I'm wondering too, do you have a cape AND Raccon mario in your hack?

Anyway if you need a beta tester let me know.

I have a lot of faith in your work man. Well-executed level design easily blots out the need for a "slight palette adjustment" as the case seems to be. As for me, I see nothing wrong with any of it. I give it a 10/10.

I was wondering that as well; the cape shots are probably just older screenshots, before the raccoon patch was added.

Riku, SMW I suppose. I don't want it to be too linear.

SNN, I agree with Alastor.

Glyph, most of the extra levels just aren't finished yet, that's why they lack content.

Keitaro, you're right, but I never really noticed much of a clash so far. Evevn the cape and its palette is from SMA4. _¬

Blue Warrior, it's the other way around. That screenshot with Raccoon Mario is really old, I got rid of him months ago.

Thanks again for all of the comments/suggestions.

About the snow level Alastor mentioned... those background hills are way too bright. Darkening them a little shouldn't be too hard.

Other than that, your palettes range from "acceptable" to "quite good", though the overworld Blue Yoshi could use lightening, looking at the shot that has one in a level. As has been said, you've done a good job of implimenting teh SMAS graphics, much better than most people do.

This looks promising. About how much more has to be done?

It's about... 30% complete. So there's still a lot to do. I hope to get it done by the end of the summer.

You lie. It got old very fast. It was better than 6-8, but it sucked compared to 5. And in general they got worse as they went along.

You thought world 5 was good? That was my least favourite. I remember like....crying....because one of the levels was hard. (I was 8) I guess you're right about giant world though.

I forgot to mention - I love the Porcupos, and the new Pirahnas

Since the topic about SMA4 graphics came up, I should note that in SMBDX and TLLDX, you used the SMAS Bowser and not the SMA4 Bowser. Here's what I'm talking about:

As you can see, this Bowser has slightly different details than the other Bowser. His shell looks much better and sharper, and his hands look less crude.

And speaking of graphics, I noticed that in these screenshots, Yoshi's arms are the same color as him in general:

While these have the original arm color:

cape mario's pallet in SMA4 is the same as regular Mario's, they both have the yellow and everything IIRC....meaning the smas smb3 pallet would work normally for it ;x but hey to each their own, what matters is that YOU think it looks good.

How about (to spruce up the SMB3 stuff a bit more) a Racoon cape? just stripe the thing with black and set its default color to brown

NES Boy, I never really noticed those differences in Bowser. But like in these 2 shots:

, there will be a few more SMB1-esque levels, one of which is a castle wherein I'll want to use that Bowser again, so I can use the SMA4 one this time.

And about Yoshi's arms, the ones where he has orange arms are just older, that's all. Isn't it kinda strange how his arms are orange by default anyway? Good eye, NES Boy.

Keitaro, I didn't mean Cape Mario, I just meant the cape itself. See how it's a pale yellow as oppose to the normal gold-yellow?

ZTaimat, nah. _¬

Thanks again for the comments, everybody.

Uh... I have an idea too.
I'm not saying it's a good idea though, because you already did a great job on Yoshi...
But remember in the SMAS version of SMB3, how in one castle one of the kings was turned into a Yoshi? Well it resembled that of SMW2's Yoshi.

My point is... If you're gonna make it more SMAS-ish... Why not modernize Yoshi a bit to look like SMW2? Like... Take a SMW2 Yoshi, modify it a bit so it would fit into the blocks used for Yoshi in SMW, and insert it (diagram below).

1.) SMW2 Yoshi
2.) Modified 8x8 Tiles
3.) New Yoshi sprite
4.) New palettes
5.) Other 8x8 Tiles - Running, idle (blinking instead of opening mouth)

Yeah... Probably a lame idea... I know...

Just a suggestion

Speaking of Yoshi's I like the ones that Icegoom made. Why don't you use it.

To be honest, I prefer the SMW Yoshi (with the SMB3 palette). Even if the SMW2 Yoshi would fit in perfectly, I would rather use the SMW one. I haven't seen icegoom's Yohsi, but I get the feeling it wouldn't fit in very well either.

Okay lol. (And I saw Icegoom's Yoshis... They looked good, but I'm sure they wouldn't fit in either... Let's keep it classic.)
