They're scheduled for the same time across the country because it's, well, the same test across the country, and they don't want people taking the test to tell other people who are taking it later what the questions are.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I seem to remember some provision to allow schools in Alaska to start their AP exams an hour later than everyone else.

C++ II - Intro to Data Structures and OO Programming - Test tommorrow, shouldn't be too bad, stuffs like queue's, stack's, list's, tree's (BST), and dealing with dynamic memory etc. Like I said, shouldn't be too bad.

On Thursday,

Physics I - It's actually over the last couple chapters, Calirometry, Thermodynamics, Waves, Sound... could be pretty bad, but I don't have to do too well.

Calculus II - This one will take the cheese, as the big bambino of tests... still not too worried about it, if I don't know it now, I'm not gonna be ready for it Thursday so. .

Oh, I'm in college.

REMEMBER THAT THERE IS ONE QUESTION THAT CAN NEVER BE CORRECT!
That's what my teacher told me.

Also, there are some questions that have funny answers in them. Well, they are funny if you paid attention this year in your class.

Also with the DBQs, don't try to use outside information if you don't need to. Just do what the rubric tells you to and you are good to go. Don't bother making it sound "smart." Just make it sound "right." Remember to group and state other sources to use as well.

Umm... yeah, AP World History this Wednesday for me. Then Monday... AP Biology. THAT is the test I am probably going to fail...

Also for the rating, my World History teacher told me that it is like a competition and that they use the best scores as a base for the rest of the tests or something like that...

Still, 3 or up is good...

Now I just need to be able to brush up my CCOT and Compare/Contrast essays...

Don't have to worry about such tests. In a community college, going to real college soon.

win?

Don't have to worry about them, not American.

Seriously... I've never understood the concept of the AP tests at all. The CLOSEST thing I ever had to an AP test was taking a college-level course in Grade 11 - we all had to in the IB. So we did a 4-month long course during class time, got college credits for it and that was that.

AP tests/classes have several purposes. First, they can give you college credit, allowing you to have to take fewer classes (and if you take enough, fewer terms) to graduate, depending on the school and how much credit they give. Second, they can allow you to pass out of an intro class so you can take a higher-up one sooner, if you want. Third...they look good on college applications, since schools want to see that you're doing the hardest courseload you can at your high school.

yes--I'm glad I took more community college classes than AP. If I had taken AP Calc, AP Phys, AP Bio, or AP Chem, I would have ended up taking a portion of those college classes again because I know I wouldn't score a 5 on the test. At my univerisity, even if you get a 5, you will have to take the last class in the series. It gets worse if you are an engineer, you still have to take it anyways. I finished the calc series, physics series, english series, and u.s. history series and didn't have to take any of it once I got to the university. Some of my friends were in AP and had to take the 2nd half of certain series anyways.

By the way, people with plans to go onto med, dental, or pharmacy school are "encouraged" (i.e. required) to take the college equivalent of the classes they AP out of.

I'm in that No AP tests cause I've got real tests (aka finals) next week. I loved APs, easy way to get out of a bunch of classes during the week, ended up not getting me many credits cause if you didn't get a 5 you didn't pass out of any courses, and then 5s mostly meant that you'd get like 2 or 3 credits in courses that were below requirements. NE ways, I digress, finals for next week.

Monday ~ 8am - Modern Physics
Wednesday ~ 8am - Computer Logic Design
Thursday ~ 8am - Electronics | 4pm - Ordinary Differential Equations
Friday ~ 8am - Circuit Analysis II

Uh, that's gonna be fun, especially considering the least of those finals is 35% of the grade, and the CLD is 50%

It is "passing", but it all depends on the college you go to. Ohio State didn't take my US History or Government exam scores, which were 3s. Good thing I took community college English which transferred over no problem, instead of the AP English class, which would have:
  • taken a whole year
  • been hard
  • not allowed me to leave after 11, even after I finished the class

Oh, and for ANYONE who is taking the AP test for American History.. I strongly recommend History Teacher.net... amazing quizzes.. and a somewhat good topic-by-topic reveiw. I go there for the AP US quizzes... they're hard.. and kind of clue you into the way the questions are worded as well as topics you should REALLY study.

My school messed up the orders for their AP tests, and they completely forgot to order Calc BC tests. Of course, it just so happens that I'm the only person in my entire town (we have 3 high schools) that wanted to take that particular test, so there's no way for them to get a copy.

So the only test I was really looking forward to taking, I can't take now. Swell.

Stanford, and from what I hear, other schools as well, are getting more and more stingy about how much credit they'll give for AP tests, making them essentially worthless for anything but the "look at me, I'm taking hard classes!" reason for taking them...

I'm lucky that I've been exempted from my school's required history core classes thanks to my grades on each of those history tests I took. My Spanish grade wasn't high enough to get me any credit. My English score is a different story; it got me a solid six credits but, since English is also my major here at school, it didn't exempt me from any classes but only gave me elective credit. Which is kind of a bummer, but oh well.

Actually, our school system has a deal where you pay for one test and the school pays for any other tests you want to take. So I won't get anything back at all from it--it just cost the school an extra $75.

Wikipedia says that AP courses are allowed to be taken in Canada, although I'm fairly certain that they mean NOTHING as far as Canadian universities are concerned; probably more for those who want to go to the States (since you can take SAT's here if you want).

...You know, given how I got a 98 in my last term of college English, I probably could tackle AP English without any problems. At least a 4 if not a 5.

That's what you would think, until you encounter the AP council's asinine perception of interpreting literature. I would never have been able to get a 5 on the test if, over the course of the year, the teacher didn't drag me, kicking and screaming, to the "right" way of reading practice passages and answering the accompanying questions. That test is very particular in how you're supposed to read and interpret things.
