| Clockwork JB: Wii allows you to download SNES games on it. And if they did do that, nobody would buy it now as it doesn't have "new" graphics.
As for the name, I bet it was a combination of Wi-Fi and WHEE! Why not "Wii?" Both fun AND online! Now it needs to be fun online as well... No pun. It isn't needed. |

Its a box... with an X on it. How original. 360? OH WOW! It is a degree measure that also equals 0. Playstation/Playstation 2/Playstation Portable? It tells you it plays something off the bat. Multiple things. Not original either. Gamecube. A game in the shape of a cube. Wii? Holy fuck! What does that have to do with the console!? NOTHING! We'll have to wait until E3 to see the reasoning behind it though. |

| Well, I've got to say, it's more creative than Sony. Then again, who knows, maybe they'll come up with a really creative name for the PS3 that they announce to much jaw-dropping at E3.

Right now, I think the Wii is better since it is going to have more original games. The 360 consists of games that I pretty much already own, but they enhanced the graphics. The Wii introduces new ways of playing games. I can't give a final verdict yet until the system comes out, but one thing is for sure: don't judge things by the name or what popular game is out, judge it by what it produces in general that is fun. |

Dolphin would have been a neat name but I didn't blink an eye when GameCube was announced. Remember the fit people threw over Dreamcast? 
And the ONLY way they would have gotten Wii past the E3 audience (if they waited until then) would be if Miyamoto announced it. Nintendo fans ALWAYS applaud anything Miyamoto says. |

I agree that wii is a bad name, but for people saying that they wouldnt play it just because of the name is just stupid, I wouldnt want to have to go into a store though and say "Hey, I would like to by a Wii" that sounds a little weird, but if the games are gonna be good, then who cared. and besides, downloading snes and other games makes the name a lot less horrible. |
