The english version is finally hitting the states this Tuesday. At my store, we're giving away a special promo DVD to our reserves.

To get more hype, I've been playing the sub version at work. I must've saw it about 8 times yesterday.

Now, I heard a ruromor that my local anime shop will be selling the english version today!! I'm heading over there soon and if its the 2-disc special edition, I might buy it.

How do you guys think the english subs will turn out? Better? Worse? And there's about 30+ extra minutes added to the movie, so that's going to be pretty sweet.

30+ extra minutes added to the movie? Huh, maybe in the original version they cut out the parts that made it make sense. If the extra is any good, I may need to rent it at some point. I saw the subbed version, and while the visuals were awesome, it was overall pretty meh, so I see no need to own a copy. But it may be worth renting a DVD to see the extras.

Got it.

From what I saw in the deleted scenes, its the same as the Jap. version. So I wanna know whats knew. Maybe the special DVD that we're giving away at work will have it.

Watching it now...feels odd hearing it in english.

I saw the import/subbed version...

Even though I agree with Sky, that it was visually pleasing yet the story itself seemed strained, I still want my own copy. I am a big fan of FFVII... I am not one of those fanboys that says:
"OMG FFVII is like... thee best games ever!!1!1"

or

"FFVII is the best final fantacy every made... all otheres sucks a$$!!1!1"

No... I prefer to use proper english and just say that I like it, it is one of my favorite games. So I would like my own copy of the sequel that I have waited for for almost a decade.

I'm interested in seeing what they've added on. Hmmm, I may consider picking it up, but do tell us what the special features are and how they've turned out on here.

Still I'm buying it.... I'm above and beyond a FFVII fanboy, sod the extras!!

I hope the dubs are good. I really, really hope the dubs are good. Because if Areith and Cid sound anything like they did in Kingdom Hearts II... there will be lifestream...

Anywho, I'll probably just download an English dubbing, and put it into my Japanese dubbed version. Maybe I'll rent it, for the extra scenes.

Should be. But as far as I know, all stores in my state are doing this. We got the distros for the special DVD on Friday and it should be in stores either on Tuesday or maybe Monday.

What's wrong with being an FF7 fanboy? I'm one, and it's fun

Simply because I'm so obsessed, I'm going as far as to say it's my favorite movie of all time.

I have a $20 bill in my room somewhere that I'm going to buy it with. Problem is, I have to find the money

I saw it once at a friend's house a few months ago but beside the visuals and the occasional humorous bit there's not much to convince me of purchasing it, extras or no extras.

The torrent of the sub that I got quite some time ago was really high quality, so quality certainly isn't a reason...and I feel no need to see it again. Once someone buys it, be sure to post what the extras are, so I'll know if I need to justify not getting it on account of those or not...

The problem with being an FF7 fanboy is that FF6 and FF5 were better. ;p

I don't anymore, but I did. Sephiroth, Cloud, Tifa, Vincent, and Zack Oddly enough, the RPG-like-mode in Ehergeiz was quite fun....

The main problem with the sub is that it's mistranslated - trust me this is MUCH clearer!

Extras?

Disc 1 - Reminiscence of FFVII - Basically the entire story of FFVII told in cut scene/music video form, I loved this, a lot! The way the music was synbchronised was so sweet.

Disc 2
The making of FFVII Advent Children - A Pretty detailed doc on how the film came to be with interviews from all the Japanese main players. I found this fascinating, you might not.

Venuice film festival version - A 20min version of the film. Cut to shreds and lacks some of the best bits, but had I not seen the film I'd have been wetting my pants too.

Deleted scenes - About 2 mins in total, a line here, a pose there, nothing special.

Upcoming game trailers - Dirge of Cerebus looks cool. Nice animes in the others.

FFVII AC trailers - All trailers ever released, so long shaky cam footage.

I only saw the ending while renting a movie in Hollywood.

I think Sephiroth gets stabbed and some stuff flies away. That's all I remember.
