The NES has limited colours so there can't be a black outline for him, only a transparent one and a black background colour.

I love Mario's levels. They are way easier than Luigi's. I can't control his abilities.

The thing with Luigi's levels are not just his abilities. Dang, the first enemy he sees is a spiny. Anyway, Luigi is funner.

I like luigi's quest better because of the "collect all of the coins" levels. They are fun!

UGH. Well, Dahrk Diaz is really good at programming.. wouldn't there be SOME way of getting around that? Perhaps a different colour outline??

That's not too hard... All you have to do is to build a brand new PPU which supports four colors + transparency per sprite and then install it into a NES console.

Jeez, there's no need to be SO mean Smallhacker. Why isn't it possible to change the background colour or something? Maybe if he made that Castle Boss have the same characteristics of Mario/Luigi sprite in terms of NOT being see-through.

It's not possible, that boss uses three colors, plus transparency. It's not possible to display any more colors on the NES.

As for the hack, I'll wait for the final, I hate demos.

Well that's one regard in which you have failed. . I think this is even more different from the original than M_A was.

I did get a couple strange one-time events to take place. In Luigi's 1-1, the game crashed upon picking up a red coin. No idea what caused it; I was sliding when it happened, but I've slid every other time I've passed through that level, and the game survived it just fine.

And in Luigi's fort, after I shattered one of the dry bones, it revived into a kicked upside-down beetle shell which actually hit me. Again, it only happened once.

As for the game, obviously there's a ton of potential here. I agree that Mario does seem to have a bit of an advantage by being able to hold a backup powerup, and it was a huge struggle getting through just the first level of each player with seemingly no possible way to gain extra lives, but I'll wait and see how the rest of the game plays out before I get all judgemental like that.

just a suggestion...
in the "collect xx coins" levels, if i play with fire luigi, i can turn the enemies into coins with the fireballs and when i collect this kind of coins, they are also counted. so it is easier for fire luigi. i think if these coins weren't counted, this kind of levels would be of more challenge.
thank you! this is a great game!

Hehe, I recnoise the third level in the first Luigi world... ^^

At least I got something to waste my time on. I like it so far, and some of the best things from your past hacks have been recycled nicely. ^^

3. Lastly, the "fences" seem a tad hard to jump off. It's not like the ones from SMW. Perhaps some recoding to make it a little easier to jump from the fences would help.

Yeah, I cannot grab fences while holding [A] button..
And I can't jump fron fences while holding [UP] button.

Or [Down]...

That's really annoying IMO. Can you hold up/down in SMW? Can't remember...

Umm, I think that I remembered that I can. Sure when pressing [Left] or [Right] while jumping from fence

I had no problems with the gates. They work fine to me. I'll admit that Luigi's game is way harder than Mario's, but once you get used to it, It gets easier. My favorate part of the game is the Power-ups. My favorate was the Bomerang Bros suit and the Mouser suit. I don't know how you did it, but awsome job on that. Since this was a demo I can understand some small bugs like the suits sprite looking gliched when you press select in the cave level, but believe me this is going to great when you release this, so I can say is keep up the good work and I'm looking foward to the release.

Of course you have to notice the fact that the gates work just like the vines. It's not like SMW when you can jump off whenever you want to.

BTW did anyone figure out how to make the ice flower?

Im Haveing A Problomb And Its Not About The Game Injenaral Its About The Tital Screen Look

All In All Afterwards I Can Play It Perfictly of Course I Died Misribly Useing The Keyboard But Ill Get It Eventuly

Meanwhile If Dahrk Daiz Wants He Could Help Me With My Hack And Get 75% Of The Credit... At least When Hes Done With Mario Vs Luigi. Note That He Even WONT Be Able To Help Me At Least If He Cant Make The Game Able To Use 4 Charictors And Make Them Simmalar To The Way Hes Using Mario And Luigi As Two Seprate Charictors

And I Beleve Some Of The Problombs Are Happining Because Of The Original Rom Some Of The Original Rom Must Be Interfearing With The IPS Patch...

At least thats my guess and im only 15 here
