Yup. We often discuss series and stuff here, but I'm curious about what Directors, composers, etc, etc, you guys like in the world of Anime.

At the moment, I enjoy a lot of work by Shinichiro Watanabe. He's most famous as the director and writer of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo as well as two of the Animatrix shorts, (A Detective Story and Kid's Story). I find his work interesting because of the way he mixes up different genres, and the interesting way he marries musical styles to things (ie, Jazz and Blues to Science Fiction; Hip-Hop to Samurai-period anime)

My favorite studio however, is Studio Ghibli, which I adore for.... well... lots of things. All of the movies by them that I have seen (so far) I have enjoyed; and I love slowly building my collection of Ghibli films. I like the works of both Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. I can't think of a favorite film, although the very poignant Grave of the Fireflies is up there.

I also like Gainax, particularly FLCL and Neon Genesis Evangelion

As for composers, this is much harder. One of my favorite composers isn't actually an anime composer so much; he did the music for Silent Hill (Akira Yamaoka). As far as anime goes, I don't mind Yoko Kanno but really it's very hard for me to pick a favorite composer....

And with manga artists... I do like CLAMP. Cause they draws pretty bishies

I'm sure there's plenty more, but I think I'm done for now

What about you guys?

Studios? Sunrise all the way
Yoshiyuki Tomino, Leiji Matsumoto, Go Nagai, Eiichiro Oda, and Miyazaki are all up there as well.
And Tezuka, of course.
Manga-ka? Nobuhiro Watsuki, Kentaro Miura, Buronson, Tetsuo Hara, Kazuo Koike, and Takeshi Obata rock.
Music? Tomino has made some awesome songs here and there. (Anime Ja Nai, Dunbine Tobu, Fly! Gundam, TIME FOR L-GAIM, CHAR IS COMING!!!, etc.)
Favorite Voice Actor? AKIRA KAMIYA FOR THE WIN! (Original Kenshiro, Ryo Saeba, Roy Focker, Ryoma Nagare, Prince Sincline[Lotar], among others) The quintessential anime voice actor of all time.

I'm not really into the directors etc.. but for Studios I'll say Sunrise for sure, they have made a whole ton of good mecha series as well as some great other stuff.

As for composers, I like Masuda Toshiro (Excel Saga, Naruto) and Kajiura Yuki (Noir and stuff). In the voice department I guess I'll have to settle with Seki Tomokazu (Sagara Sousuke, Domon Kasshu and others) because he's awesome.

Lastly, for mangaka I'd like to mention Oda Eiichiro (One Piece), Anzai Nobuyuki (Mär, Flame of Recca) and Oh! Great (ok, so I like the girls ). And uh.. that guy who does Hajime no Ippo.. because Hajime no Ippo is wtfamazing.

Studio - Sunrise ftw.

Director- Tomino. Because he kills everyone, even in kids shows.

Composer - Yuki Kajiura by FAR. Although some game music composers are up there too (Tenpei Sato, Akira Yamoka) for their work on some anime.

Voice Actor- Seki tomokazu > you. He is the most hot-blooded voice actor out there, possibly only matched by Nobuyuki Hiyama (Guy from GaoGaiGar).

Tezuka is much crueler in anime/manga than Tomino, though, I gotta say. Freakin', not only does he kill everyone, but it's so fsckin' graphic. And I didn't really expect that when I first started reading his stuff.
