Our goal? To break the current record of the most amount of users online. This record is 60, and was set on the day of the board's most recent opening. Doing this has two purposes. One, to help boost the board up from the current slow state it is in. And two, just because we can.

But it simply won't do to just say "let's break this shit" and go from there. This has to be carefully planned. 60 users is a lot by today's standards. There are usually only 30 users active maximum at one time. This will require a lot of effort on our part.

So, what do we have to do? Just remember the four Ps.

STEP 1: Plan
STEP 2: Prepare
STEP 3: Proceed
STEP 4: Party

This is Step 1. We have to choose a suitable time when the most amount of us will be around to contribute to the cause. We will have to account for potential..."error". Also known as "something coming up in life". This is obviously the most technical aspect of this event, but once we get through this, it will be smooth sailing from here on end.

Step 2 would be to prepare in the hours or days before the record breaking happens. Basically, we remind everybody that the record breaking is going to happen, have discussions about the record breaking, and so on.

Step 3 is when we do it. Try to stay on the boards (active) for as long as possible so those who are away have time to arrive. Failing that, you could use an autorefresh browser function, such as Opera's autorefresh feature, or lololol's RefreshEvery extension while you're away from the keyboard.

Step 4 is self-explanatory. We celebrate after we achieve our goal.

Keep in mind, we need to get the word out to a lot of people. The date should be at least a week away from now, so we have time for many people to see this (and make minor adjustments if we need to). If you have alts, feel free to use them, but don't create alts just for the sake of breaking the record. That's bad.

So, post a good date when you're sure you'll be available (preferably at any time, if not, for the longest amount of time) so we can get on with it!

I've got to say, this is actually a decent plan. I'm all for it, especially since it's nice to be a part of one of those records. It may, in fact, work. I'll get the word out to those I talk to on AIM who don't come to the boards all that much, such as (A)manda.

I'm doing my part!

edit: I think we also need an official image for the campaign, be it this one or another one.

Um... I kind of like when those things happen naturally.

You know, because of controversy/neat stuff/things like that.

8 PM on a friday or a saturday I will be out and about partying my heart out. Not here. 8PM on a Sunday would be preferable.. who is outside of their home at 8 PM on a sunday night? That's right.. nobody.

I think this is actually a really really good idea. Maybe I'll make my sister sign up again... she was here for a little bit... on like.. way way back in the day.. wow like, FF7citadel.. maybe here.. I'm not sure really.

Let's do it though.

I am.

You can count all weekend hours between 6 and 12 pm, a no-go for me.

Not that my presence is needed just saying.

Naturally is a lot better, you're right about that...when it's an option. Sometimes, and I think this is one of those cases, it won't HAPPEN naturally. And this is a good way to fix the activity problem without spammy happy hours.

8 PM on a Friday or Saturday, I'm bound to be working. Course, I don'thave my work schedule at the moment, but... =\ It's rare to have one of those busy nights off.

Would be much better for me around 7-8pm board time, since that's after school but before work 90% of the time.

Sunday, between 18:00-23:59 GMT time would work best for me.

I like the idea, but I will be so horrible busy until the middle of saturday. >>

And this is what I'm talking about. Not enough people care, and the times people are available vary extremely widely.

Well, you can't please everyone. The point is that you pick a window of a few hours at a time you figure most people would be on, about a week in advance, and stick with it. Make an announcement, tell people about it, put it in the banner a few days in advance...and they will come.

Ummm...I'm out at 8pm on a Sunday.

Saturday night...well...anytime between noon and 10pm is bad for me on Saturday because I work..and if I want to go out, then I won't be home at 10pm.

Friday I work in the morning, so I might be able to help out if its on a friday night....unless I go out.

Does it count if I just set a scheduled task for my browser to open to the board homepage at the scheduled time?

Probably not.

Antway, it would probably work best at the time of the week that already has the highest users online. I'm not sure if the board saves that statistic, though.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm in. The only thing I'm usually out of the house for at night is work, and even then, I just leave the computer as it is, and usually come back to it being the same way. That is, unless my brother or sister decides to use the board tab to load another site They know to open a new tab for whatever they want to do though.

The most preferable days for me would be Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Those are the slowest days for work, so most of the time I have them off Pretty much any day other than that would work as well, although I'm more likely to not be at the computer then.

Overall though, this sounds rather fun. It's going to be interesting seeing how it turns out

Any time in the evening (EST) on a Sunday automatically rules me out. A Friday or a Saturday would be much better because I can stay into the wee Yank hours...
