So I was curious, since a lot of people brought up normal cigarette smoking in the pot thread, what the experience people had with these has been.

As for me, I never had a cigarette ever before until this past Saturday when I was at a party, and some friends I was talking to went outside to smoke. I decided what the hell, I would try one. And to be honest, I kinda liked it. But I don't think I'll have another one. Just not my thing. Kinda glad I tried it, though.

Never going to. As I said in the pot thread, go ahead and do it if you want, but I'm not going to.

I used to smoke at 18, but then like you said, after a little while I decided it's not my thing, I did it for only 2 weeks.

I'm going to have to choose the "Never have, never will" option, unless you take second-hand smoke into consideration. That's been especially bad at work lately.

There'll be times I'm out getting the dining room ready to be closed for the night, and someone will want to have a cigarette. It's much more efficient for them to stay up near the front of the building, as if there's an order, they can easily get back inside, get cleaned up, and make whatever food's on the board.

However, the only doorway close to the front of the building is in the dining room. There is the drive-through window, but I don't think it'd look very good for someone to be handing out the window with a cigarette in their mouth Anyways, they prop open the door (and note that by some miracle, they always want to have a smoke while I'm cleaning the pop station, which is right by said door), and light up. Combine that with the fact that the wind sometimes blows in through the door, and you don't have a very good mix

As well, one of the managers that used to work there smoked, and as such, saw nothing wrong with smoking inside the dining room on their break. Note that they would only do that at night of course No matter where you sit in there, the smoke would eventually reach you

Other than that though, I haven't smoked yet, and don't plan on. One of the people at work that likes to hang out the dining room door while smoking told me this small story: at first, he didn't think he'd ever smoke, but he tried a cigarette once, and hated it. That only made him more set on staying away from that sort of stuff. However, later on down the road, he tried another one, and from there got to where he is right now.

He invited me to try one once, saying that "one won't make you addicted", but I declined after hearing the above story.

That's about from me though.

Not going to.

My mom did, but yay for her, she quit a few months ago after about 30 years.
Two of my siblings smoke. They're pressed for cash every single day, and they're wasting it on smoking. It disgusts me, really.

I've grown up with everyone close to me smoking, and I've seen just about every negative effect... it's been enough to convince me to never try.

I've cut down alot actually. I don't buy packs anymore really.. just mooch when I can. Which is not very often. I guess I'm a social smoker.. if everyones sitting around and talking I'll have one.. it relaxes you and some of the best conversations of your life happen while you're taking a drag of a cigarette. It kind of puts people at ease, it's fun to talk to people when they're relaxed.

I put "I smoke occaisionally". My last cigarette was like 5 days ago... but we were all just sitting around drinking some mikes hard.. and cigarettes just go with that atmosphere. So I'll participate if that's the case.

Tried it in high school. Never took it up.

Only do it if I've been drinking. In fact, it's a sign that I'm REALLY drunk.

I don't see the point to it. Most other vices offer some sort of benefit, at least - marijuana will get you high, alcohol will get you drunk - but there's no benefit to smoking a cigarette. (Not that I endorse either marijuana or alcohol, but hey...) There are so many easier, healthier ways to achieve that "relaxation" that smokers say they get from a cigarette. Work out for a bit, take a nice jog; by the time you've finished and you've cooled down and taken a shower, you'll feel more mellow than a cigarette will ever make you feel, and you've improved your body rather than injured it!

I can understand a person who smokes because of a habit developed during a more impressionable age - I pride myself on never having given in to any of that peer pressure in high school, but that's another story - but when I see friends at college picking up the habit now, at age 18, it baffles me. A cigarette in hand certainly makes a person look cool in a casual, "I don't give a damn" way, but it's my own opinion that that "I don't give a damn" is in reference to the person's own physical health rather than an ultra-cool worldview. Which is a shame.

Never have, never will. I will admit, it does look cool. But too many other factors which make it unappealing for me. It really burns my throat, nose, and stuff. Second hand smoke hurts real bad(slight asthma). And the skin, heart, and breathing conditions associated with it don't really make me wanna do it.

Cigarettes are generally made from the tobacco that we wouldn't even give to raccoon that we're testing bio-weapons on.

If I had money for good cigarettes I'd consider. However, I'll stick to no for now.

I'd be in the occasionally category (read: social) if not for this past weekend. It's easy to decide to quit when you realize all you have are Newports and you fucking hate menthol.

I never really saw the point in blowing a lot of cash on something that has no positive benefit, is hazardous to your health, and is extremely easy to get addicted to. So no.

Tried it twice, while drinking. First time I coughed a little, second time wasn't too bad. Though, I will never actually spend money on something like this.

There is a lack of:

"I'm to young to smoke legally." (and we can assume you're a law abiding citizen.)

&

"I don't smoke now, but I might."

I might start, I'm not really sure. Ziff kind of brings up what I would get at though.

No thanks. Tried them a few times, didn't like them. Don't plan on trying them again. I'd rather not get lung cancer (and don't even bring up cannabis... I havn't smoked in a while, actually).

Besides, who wants nasty smoke breath and yellow teeth?

I'm with Ziff, too. If cigarettes were actually just pure tobacco, they wouldn't be NEARLY as bad.

No, despite the fact my best friend smokes, and shes always offering me one. It pisses me off. She started due to pier pressure: Man, it sucks.

I have never smoked - and never will. Cancer took my nan, my Great Grandmother and my Great Grandfather.

My mother and father used to smoke - they gave up last year, after 20 years. Thank god..
