| In my own opinion, I am fascinated by their personality and abilities. They can hang out with guys, play sports and videogames, they don't do any of the "girly" stuff and they can have interests in math, science, progamming, etc.
So, what's your opinion on this subject? |

Except for the math interest thing. Nooooooooo way. eh, I don't see the big deal. Every girl has a different personality, different interests, different styles, it's going to be reflected in their hobbies and such. |

| I guess, some people say I am a tomboy..I love videogames and programming, I like to tinker with electroics, I'm not very sporty but I like to play them, and most of my friends online are male (quite the opposite in person...). However, theres still a lot about me that makes me girly.
I think that there's that girly side to every female, even just deep down, which is why I sometimes think there is no such thing as a true tomboy. But, I guess, that is just all how you look at. |

| I don't really have an opinion on personalities in general (that's like judging the very roots of someone, isn't it?).
But I'd say that I prefer to hang out with girls that are girly rather than tomboys, not that I have a problem with them (some of them are very nice girls after all). On a side note, I don't recall playing video games being part of what is considered a tomboyish attitude, wouldn't that be better termed "geek"? (I just love geeky girls)  |

| Okay, personally, I dislike them. ONLY in one way though. So please, don't get me wrong.
In a Relationship: I myself, respect women for their "girlyness." I love the way the female acts. Whether it's an unpopular large woman, or a beautiful noticeable woman, I respect them. My girlfriend happens to be the beautiful popular type. In a relationship of that sort, I could not see myself with a tomboy, no matter how much I respect women, I do not like that. I'm sorry if I offend ANYONE, but, it's the closest thing to a transexual, that's not actually a transexual. As a Person: On the other hand, being a friend with a tomboy is different, because, I could be friends with a transexual. I could. And again, don't get me wrong, a girl can dress in guy's clothing, and act like a guy if they want. There's nothing wrong with it. They are still complete humans regardless of ANYTHING. But, I'm speaking for most men. Most men like a woman for their "girly" aspect. Now, sports, math, science..........WTF!?!?!?! That's not being a tomboy. There are PLENTY of female mathematicians, scientists, athletes, you name it. That doesn't label them as tomboys. Jeeze. As a matter of fact... I have great taste in music and style. I LOVE cleaning, and I even like to design female clothing with my girlfriend for fun. I like doing my hair every morning, and I have a great taste for hair styles. PLUS, I hate sports. I may play a little football, MAYBE. I am also almost a vegetarian (I still eat Poultry, Pork, and Fish), not too girly, but I like to watch my weight. That doesn't label me a "tomgirl" or whatever. I still am a professional hard rock drummer. I love when my girlfriend is dirty, even though I love to cuddle and talk. And I like to be manly. Okay? Is my point proven? | Tomboys/geeks rock, to a point. My ideal girl definitely has a side of her that is one of those. It's just so endearing, hard to explain. But at the same time, I want a girl to have the necessary femininity as well, even if it only comes out at certain times. Perhaps in a sense it's that I want a girl whose personality is like mine in that while it's always the same at the core, different sides come out appropriately depending on the situation. | |||

I think that they can be pretty fascinating too and I get along pretty well with them. I´m glad that there are girls who likes videogames and electronics and such things. 
Currently in love with one. She consider herself to be a tomboy but I´m not so sure about that. |

| My friend told me a few months ago on MSN, "You wear make-up? What kind of tomboy are you?" It was part of a conversation that was sorta funny.
But yea, been one since I was a kid. I feel more comfortable hanging out with guys then chicks, just because I feel I have more in common with them than females. When I was younger, I would ride my bike all the time with my guy friends, go looking for hidouts, swam a lot, played kickball and other sports and of course video games. As I grew older, I started to wear glitter and light make-up, yet I still did the same things, but less acitivity in sports (mainly due to my job and drama club and my asthma ascting up). Nowadays, I have a mixture of both guy and chick friends and tend to do the same things as I did when I was younger (minus sports all togther, but I'll watch 'em). A certain member here will tell you how "tomboy" I can be. XD But you know, there's different types of tomboys these days. I'll try to get into it later, but I need to finish getting ready for work. |

| There's nothing wrong with tomboys in general, because they tend to deliberately go against the rules of convention for the sake of being who they are and loving themselves for what they are and I can respect any person that does that, male or female.
However, that's not to say that anything should be appreciated for being taken to extremes. Any woman who can whip my ass in a game of Blades Of Steel or a pillowfight or a friendly wrestling match, re-wire an electric socket and put up a new bathroom shelf by herself, and then dress up and hang on my arm for a romantic, sweet night together by candlelight is a woman that I will remember for a long time. A woman who spends eight hours a day in front of the mirror worrying about a hair falling out of place or a chip in her nail and who smells like she took a bath in her lilac-scented perfume is not a woman I wish to associate with. Same goes for a woman who throws 500 pound steel beams over her head at her job, has "Born To Kill" self-tattoed with a butcher knife on the fingers of both hands, and drinks four six-packs of Budweiser and belches up the beer clouds so loudly that the body of Captain Smith of the Titanic rises a foot off the Atlantic seabed every time she lets it rip. Imagine a scale where 100 represents being the total and complete glamour and glitter girly-girl, the pinnacle of yuppie-class living and the kind of person who has no less than 9000 assorted colors of shoes....and 0 being the kind of women you see with mohawks and greasy overalls and dirty sneakers who often frequent hardware stores, the ones who smell like last year's underarm odor and who look like they can challenge Mike Tyson to a fistfight and win. Me personally, I like for the needle to fall somewhere between 47 and 70, leaning a little closer to 70.
What I'm trying to say in so many words is that I don't like extremes of any kind. I prefer the company of women who have both an even balance of masculinity and femininity to spare, without going too far in one direction or the other. Amen. |

| As a kid, I got the "tomboy" label, but as I've grown, I tend to be regarded more a a nerdygirl.
This is probably fairly fair, as I'm... well... nerdy. Course, I'm also pretty girly. Not in the "fussing over makeup" way... (I wear very little makeup, if I even wear it)... but I think the fact that I want to casemod my iBook so the little glowing Apple logo is pink just about sums it all up |

| I rather like tomboys. The pure, 100% feminine girls are boring, and don't seem like they'd make very good friends... and the term is girlfriend, so... Yeah.
Of course, I do prefer they have SOME femininity to them, and being cute never hurts, but... I'd want someone to relate to. Of course, my definition of "cute" is almost always "whichever girl I'm attracted to right now", so... that tends not to be a major factor. |

I wear beaters and guys' jeans. (They're the best fit for my flat butt and thick legs, and I like their basic, comfy style.) I lift weights, and I don't give a crap about getting "too big". I WANT muscularity. I won't be winning any bodybuilding competitions anytime soon (or at all...you have to tan, and that scares the hell out of my Casper the Ghost skin ), but I am noticeably muscular, and I'm proud of the wormy veins in my forearms. I have long hair - very long hair, below navel length - but it's androgynous (blunt cut all one length and generally worn loose or in a braid or ponytail). If I didn't like how my hair looked long, it would be in some sort of androgynous or butch short cut or shaved bald. I don't shave my legs because it involves work that I don't care to do, and I think they look fine as is. (Armpits are another story...pit fur gets on my nerves.) I sing alto/tenor, too.
I identify as female and I'm married to a man. I just have a rather masculine sense of style, and I don't like to spend a lot of time fixing my hair and makeup. Sometimes I dress girly, and as long as I'm wearing non-fussy, comfortable clothing, I enjoy it. I wore a dress to my wedding, and I have some cute feminine stretch pants and "nice" tops to wear when business casual clothing is called for. |

When I was younger I was a huge tomboy. I never ever wore makeup (most of the girls started wearing makeup in like 3rd grade, I kid you not.. you gotta love NYC).. never wore dresses, shoes or skirts.. never really fixed my hair. I was obsessed with riding my bike when I was little. I played with my neighbor Mike alot and we used to climb trees and pretend we were like at war with each other.. fake guns and stuff. I dunno, that's how I played as a kid. Most girls were like super girly as kids.. like barbie dolls, makeup, nails, obsessing over hair, girls rule boys drool, my little pony... that's how my sister was at least. I was always outside. But as I got older it kinda faded a bit. I started dressing more girly.. and I started doing my hair and wearing eyeliner eventually around like 14.. but it wasn't until kinda recently that I started dressing more girly. I used to always wear like big baggy shirts, hoodies and like u.f.o.'s or big baggy black pants or something. At like 16 I discovered jeans and cute shirts and the world of shoes.. the lovely lovely world of shoes.. 
I'm still definatly more tomboyish than most girls my age though. I play tons of videogames, I play guitar, I can skateboard.. and I prefer to hang out with and talk to guys moreso than girls. Alot less drama.. and I can relate to guys alot better. It's weird. |

I have a friend who claims to be merely a tomboy, she shaved her head, dressed in men's clothes and wore a big silver watch. She still claims to be another tomboy, yet she flirts with my sister all the time. |

But anyway... I understand what you mean. She's obviously a lesbian. If a girl wants to say they're a tomboy, but are really lesbian, that's like, man trapped in girls body stuff goin' on there. My sister is a tomboy I guess. I believe she is a TRUE tomboy. She is a hard-core hunter, loves baseball, dresses baggy, wears chains and such, worried about hair, but not too good with it, likes to hang out with guys, likes to snowmobile and four-wheel a LOT. She is older than me, but lol, she is almost speech impaired. It's like she can't think of things to say, has a hard time saying them, lol, (not like a slow person), and she's kinda dumb. But she's completely normal, no medical problems at all. WOAH, of track, sorry. This topic is not such a big deal. They're either lesbian, or like guy stuff.
