I've finally re-started work on my hack that I lost in a hard drive incident, I've put so much effort into the Overworld alone for the [ast 6 days, I'm still not done with it yet but I'm getting there. I'm going to try to use as many levels as I can for this hack. For the side note you don't Fight the Koopa Kids until you reach the Secret world. [Screenshot below].

If anybody knows how to Animate Overworld Tiles Please give me a heads up as I can't figure it out and I really need to animate most of my tiles.

Screenshots.

Basically the new Underground Caverns being planned out still.

I can't wait to work on the levels using this tileset as it just looks awesome IMO.

The Next few shots are overworld Tests for the new art.

And last but not least, The secret world's the only Map that's currently done so far.

Any comments? Suggestions on what I should add?

This needs a lot of work. Especially in the overworld department. It just looks too plain, the grass one doesn't even have proper water edges. I'll admit though, if you were to fix the glitchy sections of the it, the second background would look very nice (although it clashes horribly with the foreground). And the path tiles in the bowser world overworld do look half decent. Keep trying, though.

To animate overworld tiles, you have to edit the standard GFX. This means you'll have to sacrifice some of the old animations that you won't be using. No problem, though.

Well, some items/enemies and variety would be nice. The levels and overworld look really plain and square right now, but it's early days and so it'll be interesting to see where you go with it.

I'm in the process of implementing more Overworld tiles, The overworld's far from done and the Levels are just as far away from being done, I'm concentrating on the Overworld first before I get intact with the levels because I'll be basing some levels on the Overworld.

My main issue is that your overworld looks a bit too... repetitive. I mean, for example, that ice area is all ice stones, the bowser area is all castles stacked onto each other. It's a little too uniform and repetitive for my liking. I do like your level tiles, though.

The GFX/ExGFX are awesome, but the levels and the OW are a little...empty . Great work anyways .

Like I said I'm far from done with the Overworld, Many things will be placed in the Overworld, I'm still figuring out what to od with the Secret Zone castle area.

About your final OW image: There seems to be some sort of glitched sprite or something just to the right of the middle area. Anyone else see it? To me, it looks a bit like a cheep cheep bouncing on dry land, being covered by the pathways. Is this just a glitch, accident, or is it supposed to be there?

That's... a Boo.

Well... the first image's ground palette doesn't look quite right (although the YI background looks rather nice), the second's bricks directly above the lava seem a bit too bright (the rest looks good, aside from the slight glitches in the top of the background), and the OW is kinda... unimpressive. I definitely don't like the path with skulls and keyhole blocks around it, and the ice one seems a bit like it would be a tad too... linear? Doesn't look very inspired, at any rate. The grass one needs edges on the water, and the secret world one... I don't know... seems like it would benefit from a combination of curved paths and slightly altered fortress graphics. If nothing else, Bowser's Castle seems not to fit in too well with all the tall fortresses surrounding it. Perhaps you could put a few more behind it to keep the look constant, changing the flying Bowser sprite slightly to fit in since it's not in shadow?

Sorry if it seemed a bit harsh, but... it could use a bit of work, and it looks like it's definitely in early stages, when it's good to see what's wrong so you don't repeat it and have to rework 3/4 of the stuff.

Why not try ripping GFX from an RPG for your overworld. I personally recommend Robotrek.

I have updated screenshots of 2 new worlds. If they're too plain I'll add some more stuff to them.

Sand Desert.

Deep Forest.

More updates soon to come.

The desert looks good, but the deep forest still looks too plain. I would add a body of water or something somewhere in there to make it look better.

Also, you shouldnt reveal the star road tiles. It kinda spoils the surprise for the player.

Nice work though

Your OW is not horrible, but it does need to have more variety such as lakes and rocks, and things that make it a natural enviroment, what you've got now makes it look like it's so staged...

Heh The entire game is actually quite changed around. The Star Road tiles are alternate warps. They don't take you to shortcuts. The Forest I'll probably add something like different Variety of Tree's as the first world is a Lakeside forest so I can't really add a lake to the secondary Deep Woods. Though More suggestions would be helpful, I'm starting to work on World 1's Island edges. I'm also usnure on what to make Star Road, I was thinking a Cloud world but that'd be too cliche.

Well if anybody can answer me on how to Animate Overworld Tiles I'll be most pleased to put my fire in it and other animations, Thanks.
