I recieved the beta from Interdpth, and my thoughts are thus:

Very...freaking...spiffy.

Summed up in three words, anyway. The saving feature is yet to be fully installed and there's a lot to be done in making a hack. Some features, such as the door editing, map editing and things that are more in-depth (invisible walls, events) are not available yet but I'm sure he's working on them. Right now (I'm on IM with him now) he says foreground editing is next.

Here's a screen:

This is so awesome. Metroid Zero Mission is one of my favourite games in the series, and the potential for a great hack is immense. Theres just so much in the game to use! I'm just a bit curious as to how the 'zero suit samus' part near the end will be edited (with the space pirate patrol zones etc).

And the foreground works! THE CROWD GOES WILD!

...eh, enough of that. Nice though. JEEEESUS, you have a lot running on your computer all at once. Like mentioned, it seems to be fairly straightfoward - click the box that pertains to what you're editing, right?

Hello intedpth, I have a question about the Zero-Mission engine with relation to level editing.
Do you know or can forsee any engine specific limitations to editing? Example: Max displayable sprites per screen/room, or a maximum number of placable objects, (Link to the Past has this problem) or maximum number of rooms/screens/roomsize.
I know the editor is only in its basic, buggy stages now, but do you forsee anything related to the game's hard-coding that would inhibit editing?

As of right now, I can practically do anything I want to a level as soon as Jiggly saint gets on I can implent the other layer and background editing, rooms will only be able to be a max size of 255 x 255 tiles and the GUI already underwent a new design and beta testers if you're wondering after I get the aforementioned done and make stamping work ya'll get a new version. =)

Hmm...I think I found some bugs. Clicking on Debug room in Advanced causes the program to freeze up on you. Having you to Ctrl Alt Delete. At least...in area 0 in room 8.

These are some graphical bugs. The platforms where elevators rest on look a bit skewed. I believe they are using the main level pallete. Don't count me on that. Though some just look screwed up. Almost all of Chozodia is untouchable. I assume that area isn't finished yet. There are several different objects that are just there in the editor but not in the game. There is a smaller problem in Area 3 room 3 The top part where the Imago larva falls in. Like Chozodia. Also Area 3 Room 3 causes the program to crash. Also, saving doesn't work. I assume you cancelled saving in the public verisons yes?

I'm really looking forward to this. Are you going to add an enemy editor in this too? And be able to edit the enemys colors and all that? Speaking of which, what have you gotten done so far?

Ok, time for your weekly status report,

Got 3 main layers showing, background is next.

Currently on my todo list is

Disassemble MZM's loader function for my own use

Show background. That's all I'll post later

Is that "Load Rom" actually correct? Shouldn't it be "Load Room" or "Save Rom"??

Anyhow... over-quite awesome!!!!!!! Nice to see progress again!

Hmm....I have another question. Do you think that it would be possible to add more rooms and to expand them? How about adding events to each room like for example. Defeat Kraid and the door to Norfair will open. Or, go into a certain room and some other gray doors will open. I don't think those two may be possible at the moment but I guess they can be considered. If all those were implemented, plus room for more enemys. I'd be all set. Did you find anything about Crocomire while making the editor? If it could be possible to put him in.....
