Does anyone know of any lossless compression algorithms that have their data formats available to read? I need to implement lossless comrpession into a SNES rom I'm making, but for that I need to know the specs for something. BTW, the compression is for graphics, sound samples, and level data, etc. | |||

You can probably use zlib, it's based on the compression libpng invented. Though you're going to have to invent an implementation for SNES. | |||

If you can decompress everything into one big RAM block, consider an LZ based compression. If you only have 256 bytes of buffer, try LZO. Otherwise try huffman. | |||

Cool, thanks guys! I hit upon a compression spec I liked, although it wasn't any of those ( ), and I'll just juggle that around a bit and use it. |
