The dude sold out, I cried, etc.

However... http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs9/ this is a saving grace.

It took out my gamefox, made annoying ads pop up, and it almost hurts to try and read stuff now.

Eww, I despise the new format. Then again, I really hated the way it's now been for a little while when it first came out, preferring the older still variety of boards. This time, though, I don't think I'll "get used to it" but rather use the link you provided.

I'm not sure how long that link will work is the problem. So far it just looks like...

I'm heading out for a bit to run some errands so I can't take part in this discussion anymore for a while. I just hope everyone realizes that this was something we had to do by a certain deadline and now that we've reached the deadline and got it up that we can start working on getting it how we actually want it.

Just give it some time. We've even given you a link to exactly how it used to be that you can use in the meantime if you just can't handle this change for now. Once people start skinning the site you'll see that this change is really for the good as you can get things looking exactly as you want it too.

In the meantime, I would encourage you guys to use Site Suggestions if you have anything you'd like to see (like a quote feature) and then if enough users show interest we can take that into consideration.

Just don't give up all hope when the new look has only been live for just over an hour.

If people want to make a new version of GameFOX they are more than welcome to. And the slowdown for the site is a temporary thing since things are being constantly tinkered with.

As for the more ads, it should be inherently obvious as to why they are there. Unless you wanna start footing the bill for the site, ads are going to keep showing up.

Okay, I'm gone now.

Supposedly, you can customize it through CSS though. To bad the normal person has no clue how that works...

Um... I actually like the new format. I mean, certain changes are expected but the site looks nice and streamlined.

It's a matter of personal preference I suppose. The main function of the site's the same, so...

It's even worse than the 2003 layout! MY EYES!!

Dammit even though GFBrowser is now banned by the new TOS, I should dig it up and parse through the ugly code just so I can get the clean 2000-look.

It looks like Gamespot, as in, it hurts it simple design and there are ads everywhere, yay!

Hint: The site doesn't change to work at different resolutions than 800 x 600. I just learned this from my phone.

No, it does... It works above it. It's the fixed width; it'd look unstylish any other way, really. 1024x768 looks best.

And stop using 800x600, it is soooo bad...

I have a crappy phone though.

I'm glad someone likes it, because even one of the administrators said they held back changing the site until the absolute deadline set by CNET.

This is the worst design on GameFAQs as of yet, I liked the pre-2003 theme much better. Hell I thought the 2003 theme was ass-ugly, man they just made it worse.

You people are missing the point. GameFAQs has broken many promises in the past (the most notable coming from the infamous quote by CJayC "GameFAQs isn't going to be merged in with GameSpot or any other site. We're not going to strip out the soul of the site."). Many long time users are unhappy about some of the changes that will be happening, and some of the changes that will probably follow. A LOT of long time users. Some big time contributors were even seemingly bribed free premium service so that they would stay.

Do you even know what the premium service is, asdf?

New content.

No promises have been broken. All the existing stuff - the FAQs, the guides, the reviews, the boards... It's all still free.

So quit complaining.

There's only one relevant topic I could find, and that's just a list of simple statements made many, many, MANY years ago... And none of them promises. A man can change his point of view, you know.

Oh, forget it. I don't think you understand [their side of the story]. It's understandable though, as I noticed you aren't really that involved in the site. And remember, if everybody was apathetic, nothing would get done.
