It won't but its better than having to look at Mugs... at the begining.

If all else fails you could do it with a hex editor, it's not that hard to use.

No, but like Darkdata said, it will disable the intro, eliminating the need for a fresh ROM. It might not be a bad idea to use a clean one anyway, though.

Just pop open a hexeditor with Table support search for BULBASAUR in caps and replace. make sure there's an 0xFF at the end of the word or else ROM might read the name forever

You bring up another good point--don't rely on programs to do everything for you. Never be affraid to get your hands dirty when it comes to ROM hacking. It pays off in the long run and you'll gain skills and knowledge critical to your success in the process

I learned the hard way relying on programs are not good. Even relying ones you write yourself (should have seen how many copies of my ROM I went through when I was writing PET.) Never rely on programs unless you know it will work. Advance Text-No offense to the creator(s) sucks hard. A hex editor is a easier and versatile if you know what your doing through trial and error. You can edit every ascept of a rom. Seriously.

Come on now, Advance- Text is not that bad.
You have st search for the text.
It repoints when it is to big.
And it saves time if you are in a hurry. (You should never be with rom hacking but it still is another point.)

interdpth, (allthough a mod may say I am doing their job) You should not attack other peoples programs, also when you are saying it "sucks hard" you do not give reasons.

Although a hexeditor is fine, Tools are also great. Hope you like building a map through hex.

Allthough I don't mean to insult you, I only think it's unfair the way you judge that program.

Small note: "No offence" and "Sucks hard" are kinda oxymoronic..

Kind of are doing the mod's job..I appreciate the effort, but I have everything under control leave the resprimands to me (and I really wouldn't have reprimanded interdpth for that so...)

Offtopic: Darkdata i've built a map via a hex editor and my own tools. I've been hacking pokemon for 5 years now. I'd rather spend 20 seconds opening up a hex editor and loading and knowing that my new text will work. Rather then relying on some program to do autorepointing when all I have to do is byte swap my new address and tag an 08 to the end. Now see I don't know you. But I do know Romhacking. I judge it based on my expertise in this field. Now "No offense" and sucks hard are not oxymorons. Now then please do your research on who you're arguing with. If you have any further complaints with take it to a PM.
On Topic:
Chainlink if you want to edit a name Dexter works fine. I think I added the function to edit names in PET. But never use advance text it's a broken piece of software
