I don't remember how long ago it was but I remember a game that was being made or was made called Return to the Mushroom Kingdom and was a Mario Bros. type of game. It let you play games already made or make your own using that program. I just remembered about it recently and was wondering if anyone knows what happened to it or if it even exists anymore. If I remember right, I think it was on Challenge Games then when that site went away I haven't heard about it.

I've still got it in a folder on my desktop, although I don't know how old it is, and therefore whether it's the most recent version released before CG-Games disappeared. Anyways, I've zipped up the folder, so provided there's no registry entries or such that are required (the only ones I can find in a search were created by Restore Desktop), simply unzip this file to whatever folder you like, and try loading it.

Good luck

Thank you for that download. I don't know if it was a corrupted file but I get an error when I try to open the game. The things display correctly up to the title screen. I see Mario and Luigi and a Goomba, but then I get an error that says:

Unexpected Exception: Error in the Application.
-2146232832 (Unknown)
at Microsoft.DirectX.DirectDraw.Surface.Flip(Surface surface,
FlipFlags flags)
at RTMK.Game.Perform( )
at RTMK.Game.TitleActions( )
at RTMK.Game.MainLoop( )
at RTMK.Foundation.RunApplication( )
at RTMK.Foundation..ctor( )
at RTMK.Foundation.Main( )

That's the exact message I get when the game tries to load when the title is put on the screen. If noone can help fix this problem, it's no big deal, but for those of you who at least try, your help is much appriciated. Thanks again for your download Karadur.

This is purely a guess, but check what version of DirectX is in your computer. You can do so by clicking "Start", "Run", then typing "dxdiag" in the box that appears. Depending on what version of DirectX is installed on your computer, you may or may not see a window like this. Regardless of whether you do or not.

Find the version of DirectX you've got installed, by looking for some text like what's outlined in that picture. If it's anything lower than DirectX 9.0b, you're going to need to update it. You can do so by going here (there's a link to that in the RTMK readme, but it doesn't work for some reason ). Even if the text says "DirectX 9.0c", try downloading and running the file from that site anyways, as nobody knows if something could've gotten messed up in the time between whenever it was installed, and right now.

As much as I'd like to say I am, I'm not really sure that'll do much, if anything at all, as if it was indeed a DirectX related problem that you're having, it makes sense to think that the game wouldn't load at all, much less get to the title screen and crash

Anyways, it's worth a try, but if that doesn't work, I'm stumped
