Whodathunk? I was just about to start a protest group against people using foreign plural forms for loan words. I was going to start by stabbing people who use words like 'syllabi' instead of 'syllabuses.'

Seeing as though we are having a latin revolution...

Would that make the plural of "Plum" a "Pla"?

I want to start a protest for the misuse of the word "irony" and for people who don't know the plural form of "virus."

See also criteria (Singular: Criterion).

ALSO: While we're on the subject of i-before-e, you forgot "society".

Both are acceptable, though syllabi is the "more correct" version.

"data are" just doesn't sound right, though.

Now this I agree with. "Nintendo NES System", what the hell.

I see no problem with data as a singular mass noun. I do, however, agree that criterion/criteria are misused far too often.

But what always gets me, for some reason, is the misuse of less vs fewer.

That, in turn, makes us enemies, Alastor! Draw your sword! *hands flare with Etheral energy* Uh-oh, that's a BIG sword... *soils white, loose clothes*

I dunno... Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow? I don't ever step into the simbattle so I'm thinking it's something from there if I'm wrong.

Soma has white loose fitting clothing, and there is an enemy with a giant 3D sword called Alastor.

I'm starting an official protest group against people over the age of 30 who still use the word "gots" in a sentence.

EXAMPLE I gots a new pair of shoes at the mall today.

Please. You're not four years old anymore. Please start talking like an adult!

lol -- I'll confess to some of this and similar silliness. I will admit that a lot of that kind of thing though is a joke, and a lot of those jokes are either in-jokes with my mother, or internet-related stupidity.

I don't see too much of a problem with it as I recognise it as a joke and know when not to speak that way (I know that it's not proper English) but yeah... I do it..

Interesting! See, last time I fought an Ancient Blue Dragon, which was armed with a particularly nasty 720,000 GigaVolt Breath Weapon, my ether worked just fine in defense. To fell it, I fought a LONG battle, using a combination of the Emotional Rockets, Alpha Psibeam, the Sunbeam of Desert Sentinel to paralyze it by turning it's electricity against itself, and after 12 turns the Prince Tech "Prince Schwa's Limits Breaker" to knock all my stats to ungodly levels for 6 turns. Yeah, it was a victory, all right.

Don't YOU tell ME false RP physics, boy! You may be more stylish than me, but at Roleplaying I'll whup ya hands down at Mach 50 before you can say Robin Williams.

Oh, right, the subject...

You'd have to say "I gots meself a new pair o' shoes at da mall yest'rdee". Completeness is everything. You can't order curry without the chestnuts.
