Hi, I'm sort of new at this but I have a question. From what I've heard you can actually put new stuff in old NES games using the Emulator I just downloaded. So I got a question or two:
Is it possible for me to put in World 9: Moon Land's map and its levels in a Super Mario Bros 3 ROM? If so then I can put Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and Dark Mind (A.K.A. Dr. Topper the green Hammer brother from Super Mario RPG) in those levels?
One more question:
Can I put myself on the Pterodactyl's back in Big Nose the Caveman?

There's not a whole lot that can't be done through code rewriting. However it's a very involved process, and if you're asking questions like these, I think it's safe to say you're not quite ready for it just yet.

Don't get the wrong idea -- FCEUXD SP is just a tool, it's not an editor or magic change-all program. If you don't know how to use them, the tools it offers won't be very useful for you.

If you really are interested -- there are beginners guides around (though I couldn't find them in the quick 5-minute search I just did). I know Rockman made a few tutorials on how to do basic things -- plus Ice Ranger made a thread a few below this one with a sort of mini tutorial (although it's got some yukky incorrect terminology as I point out in that thread).

Obelisk has a good 6502 reference page. And while it may not be the best place to learn 6502, it's great for looking up opcodes/addressing modes/etc.

I corrected the wording (at least most of it, the $8000 - $FFFF area is the PRG memory).

As for additional help with getting started here are links to Rockman's ASM tutorials.
