| Yeah. My laptop's got a bit of a... Horrendous problem with it. Ever since about two weeks ago, it's taken quite a bit longer to start up than usual. After that, it WAS mostly fine, except that whenever AVG scans C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\KB899587\spuninst.exe, it pauses for a few seconds, then it freezes and goes to a blue screen with the standard ignore this if it's the first time it's happened, if it happens again make sure your hardware and software are properly set up, blah blah blah technical information ***STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x829FBDA0, 0x829FBF14, 0x805C7478) etc. I downloaded another antivirus program, and that gives me another blue screen of death whenever it scans the same file, though it has somewhat different text.
Lastly, as of yesterday afternoon, my wireless is just unresponsive and refuses to acknowledge that any possible wireless connections exist, and half of the time doesn't even show in the list of possible network connections. I have no clue what's wrong with it, and it's... extremely annoying. (edited by Alastor the Stylish on 04-03-06 09:17 PM) |

| Try running scandisk to see if there is a problem with your disk.
Check running processes if there is something using that file. doing some research, it appears that somehow the virusscan, when it crashes, crashes a system critical process and thus kills your entire window xp instance. Not sure what a good remedy will be... spuninst seems like the program that will allow you to uninstall a service pack? |

| Yeah, sounds like a disk error at that location.
For the wireless I would suggest uninstalling the driver and all the software that came with it an then finding the disk that came with it and reinstalling from scratch. |
