Liriano might be done for they year even ... that would change the whole AL wild card race.

And this may be off-topic, but I can't bump your thread Leno_jr, and I was wondering how your FF VI project was coming along.

All those who thought that Marlins prospect Jeff Allison was on the road to recovery, raise your hand.

Red Sox were just swept by the Royals, and the Twins have lost their 3rd straight home series. White Sox seem to have random starting pitching. It would then seem that the AL wild card is completely up for grabs.

You should be able to post in it, it's not locked. And it's coming along quite nicely.

Well, duuuh. He's part DONKEY. No wonder he did it. And in other news, THANK YOU, Red Sox, for finally coming to your senses. Do I have to call off that hit on Emil Brown now?

The Cardinals were swept by the Pirates as well. It's almost as if the baseball gods are drunk.

They pretty much have to be (and speaking of which, let's hope Jeff Allison gets the help he needs... maybe a chat with Jason Lee might help?)

Oh, and Greg Maddux continues to be a sexy beast. Eight innings, two hits, four strikeouts, no walks, no runs... on 68 pitches. Good LORD. Both of those hits, mind you, came in the first inning. Randy Winn hit a leadoff single, Vizquel flew out, Ray Durham singled... and that was IT. Barry Bonds hits into a 1-3 double play (Maddux snares a line drive, throws to first to get Durham) and the Giants are D-U-N DONE while Maddux is still in there. 1-2-3 innings the rest of the way. Because Grady Little's a penis, he pinch-hit for Maddux in the ninth, and the only way that move could be tolerated was if they won... and they did.

That's the beauty of Maddux's style. Throwing strikes is extremely effective. Sure curves and sliders can be nasty, but there's nothing better than see a guy whiff on a changeup.

No they didn't. Nobody played in that series. Everyone was on vacation.

And now some news from my favorite team: The New York Yankees Mets:

Acquired Shawn Green and Cash from the D-Backs for a minor league prospect

Acquired Guillermo Mota from the Indians for a player to be named later

After feeling coldness in the ring finger on his pitching hand, Tom Glavine will not require surgery, but just medication.

That is all.

The Mets probably have enough pitching now to win the NL pennant, but I think whoever takes it will get stomped by the AL pennant winner. I'm counting the days until they finally dethrone the Braves consecutive division titles streak.

If the Tigers are good enough to come out with the AL Pennant, then they could beat the Mets.

And go Marlins. 7 in a row, 3 back in the wild card, all with a tidy $15 million payroll.

Speaking of Go-Go Gadget Marlins, Anibal Sanchez took the mound last night against the D-Backs.

With sexy results.

A. Sanchez (W, 7-2): 9.0 IP 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K

(sniffle) Our little prospect's all growedsed up.
