| Just curious -- for those of you of drinking age -- what are your favorite alcoholic beverages?
Now, before we start, I'd like to ask -- If you don't drink, or if you don't approve of drinking, please keep such opinions on drinking to the debate forum  Thankyou.
Now, at the moment, I tend to like my wines. They're my favorite. I've always been a red wine person; so it's no surprise that my current favorites are still Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon variety red wines. I'm also partial to a Merlot, and I enjoy blends with these three. I like the flavors, soft and fruity for a merlot; bold, sometimes spicy for a Shiraz.
I've recently taken a liking to some of the fortified wines. I never liked Port, but I do quite enjoy a Muscat or a Frontignac. I'm sipping a Muscat right now, it's very pleasant every now and then. It's a little expensive, so I only have it as a little treat some evenings. It's good on a cold evening like tonight
Moving away from wines, I tend to enjoy a sip of Bailey's from time to time too. And the occasional beer, if I'm in the mood. I'd generally take wine over beer though. What is it YOU like? |

Cider, becuse it's sweet. And I can't really stand any other beverage honestly. I have no kind of favorite brand, though I do have tasted some of the stronger types of cider. 
I can't stand beer or wine though, as I just don't... like the taste. :/ Guess i'm just not used to it. |

| Beer can be drunk until a certain level is reached. Then you are either full to the top, already to the way into the bathroom or need "harder" drinks.
As for me, I rarely drink alcohol, but then I always prefer beer - most of the known German brands are very drinkable. Nothing beats the taste of a cool beer, gotten fresh from the barrel, while it it is good weather on a sunny day. Since my birthday is coming, I anyway need to buy some beer crates. Though their lifespan is usually much shorter than estimated 
As for brands, I prefer any sweet beer types. Be it Radeberger, Warsteiner or Hasseröder - also I adore irish Guinness beer or our "Schwarzbier". |

| Beers include Guinness, Corona, Yuengling and Bass Ale.
Hard Liquor includes Vodka, Scotch, Jack Danials and Gin. Mixed drinks include Martini, Appletini, Tom Collins, Highball, Manhatten and Souix City Sasparilla. Delicious. |

| Among beers I tend to go for dark ales, Tooheys Old or Carlton Draught. The occasional Guinness hits the spot, too.
Wines I like a good red, particularly a Cab Sav, or a Shiraz. And generally my choice in spirits is vodka and coke, as in, a bottle of coke and a bottle of vodka. (edited by Arwon on 04-03-06 08:18 AM) |

| Beers: Since I am le cheapo, usually Bud Light, but I do enjoy Guinness.
Liquor: Rum is my staple here. Mixed drinks: Rum & Coke is my fave. I had some coconut rum and OJ the other day, that was good. Screwdrivers. 151 & Dr. Pepper. |

| On beers, I tend to go for Pale Ales. Such as Cooper's Pale Ale. Occasionally I don't mind a Cooper's Dark Ale. I don't mind a Guinness, but only sometimes.
Mostly Pale Ale is fine enough for me I'm not fond of all that much beer. I used to be; but now I'm much more into red wine.
Unfortunately I suspect that red wine is a far more expensive habit. More expensive by a LONG way.
And I forgot about my taste in spirits. I like my Johnny Walker Black Label scotch whiskey.

| Hmm. I had a party the other night, and like usual, I just stuck to vodka mixed with orange or cola. It is absolutely rough when I drink it straight though.
It's pretty lame that being the age I am, I cant get served anywhere. Oh well. Only another year until i'm 18 and legally allowed to buy it (edited by richyawyingtmv on 04-03-06 10:49 AM) |

| I didn't even start drinking until I came to college a few years ago, but my tastes have shifted remarkably since then. At the start, I would take very large shots of hard liquor, and I really didn't much like beer at all. I think the former might have been an attempt at a "macho" kind of thing.
At some point my sophomore year, though, I started to shift in completely the opposite direction, such that shots of hard liquor weren't that great, and while I liked mixed drinks, beer was pretty much my favorite thing to drink. The problem was that unless I wanted to go out and buy it myself, the beer I had was the cheapass stuff at parties. Well, pubs in England changed that. So much variety of beer, and a lot of it really, really good. I've decided that I like the darker stuff a lot better in general, and I enjoy a Guinness from time to time. Usually, though, I look for variety. If there's a beer I haven't had on a list of beers in a place, I'm usually more likely to get that than something I've already had. It's a lot more interesting that way. As far as wine goes...I enjoy it, but I'm not really much of a wine taster, to be honest, so I can deal with the cheap wine, though I am able at least to tell that it's not as good. As far as cheap wine goes, your best bet, if it's available, is Charles Shaw, affectionately known as "2 Buck Chuck" since it's actually decent as far as cheap wine goes. |

| Dude... this just keeps poping up for me.
Ok... first I will say that I was a beer guy, true and true. I absolutly despised liquer, never drank it. Wine was good, my fave was pinot noir. But nothing can surpass my love for beer. The local watering hole has over 186 kinds of beer and has a Beer Club. Of course, I am a member. I remember how every beer I have ever had has taisted and that is saying alot since I have close to 100 different kinds under my belt. I am a huge fan of dark and amber lagers. Something with a malty, not so much hoppy taist. There are only a few light beers that I enjoy. German beer is okay but everytime I have it, it is served wrong. Germans mostly drink thier beer warm or at room temperature. I have always had it cold. Just a couple of my favorites: Sprecher Black Baverian, Killian's, Samual Adams, Xingu Black Beer, Blue Moon, Woodchucks Dark Cider beer, Moretti La Rossa double malt, and Rolling Rock. I could go on, but I would need to break out my book to double check some of the spelling. Surlent: Warsteiner is pretty decent. I could never get into it though As far as Guinness and Heniken are concerned... They are two of the most over hyped beers. Heniken just blows ass, there is no point in buying a beer like that when there are so many different and better beers out there. Guinness is at least good, but by no means the best, just over hyped. It is pretty good, but again, there are better ones out there. |

| Beer: I usually drink Beck's. Sometimes I'll drink Lvivsk or Kozel. Amsterdam Nut Brown is great when I'm rich. PS: Imported beer - cheaper and better! However, strong beers are better. Duvel or Leffe for instance. American beers and major Canadian beers (aka better than American beers, but still worse than piss) are shit and cannot be consumed by nothing but swill-fed pigs. They're expensive for what you're getting.
Cider: STRRRROOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG BOW! Southern Comfort, come on people. I love this stuff. I've got the nickname Janice Joplin because of how much I drink of it when I get going. Whiskey is mega-awesome. I drink a lot of sake, but that's because its cheap. You can get a 1 litre bottle of half decent sake for 8 dollars at the LCBO with 18% alcohol content. SWEEEEEEEEET. Wines - I like a good redwine. White wine too. Oh, and fortified wines too. When I have money I <3 Cognac and Brandy. |

| Definately a beer man here. My favorite right now is New Castle Brown Ale, it's really smooth and easy to drink. When I don't want to spend much money I'll get MGD because it's not much more expensive than cheap beer but tastes a whole lot better.
Mixed drinks I love vodka and orange juice and also whiskey sours, something about the harsh sour taste and the kick of whiskey just is irresistably good. Other than that I preffer to take my alcohol in shots and not mixed it with other drinks, it's just easier to take it all at once and then use something else to chase it down, especially considering that it's usually very cheap alcohol. Thus is the dilema of college, no money => cheap beer and alcohol, and I'll usually spring for more expensive beer over more expensive alcohol. |

| I prefer dark beer when I'm just drinking, but lighter beer tends to go better with food. I'm not much of a Guiness fan, however, and there's so many better beers out there people tend to be unaware of.
As for other beverages, I like cider and liqueur. Harder liquor tend to focus more on being strong than actually tasting good, and apart from the traditional glass of aquavite at Christmas Eve, I rarely drink anything strong which isn't a mixed drink. As for mixed drinks, it's usually vodka mixed with juice or soda. I've tried some others, but I'll be damned if I can remember their names, and vodka with orange juice beats them all anyway. I can't say I'm a huge fan of wine, but I do like a glass of white when I'm having cheese. |

| I use alcohol when I cook. Wine sauces, bourbon glazes, all sorts of fun and delicious uses. The alcohol gets cooked off but you keep the flavor and it can really add to a dish when you know what you're doing.
I like Jack Daniels for cooking with hard liquor, appealing flavor. I don't drink--I base it off of its taste when used with other ingredients. I'm very picky with the wine I use too, but, it is more of a flavor thing in this case too. I couldn't tell you what a 'good year' is, for example ._.;; Cooking with Sake is great in some of my more traditional recepies, but, like wine and bourbon, you need to use it properly. |

Mostly I cook pasta with red wine. Both my spaghetti and my lasagne wind up with red wine in them. Once a lasagne wound up with champagne in it, that was quite nice too. |
